This ammo will not chamber properly in my 224 VAL Upper. The Lot Number is : 62P339 Ecessively Tight Fit and will Not Eject without tapping the charging handle rearward lightly with a plastic hammer.

The Federal Premium 90 grain SMK Match Ammo functions normally in this same rifle.

What barrel/chamber do you have?

Not sure of brand because the upper was built by online builder in Florida.

24" S/S HB BBL 1:7 Twist

It appears to me that my Chamber/ head space is on the MIN Side of SAAMI Specs and the Federal American Eagle Ammo brass is sized to the MAX SAAMI Specs.

The cure for this will be to run ALL my 224 VAL Brass thru the RCBS Small Base Dies before I reload it..

FYI. I shot a few boxes of the american eagle 75 grn TMJ, out of those 100 rounds, 2 cartridges had cracks in the necks. make sure to check your ammo when your loading up the mags.

Yes there are tons of guys complaining about it, and I feel for them after dropping the coin for a new rig. I guess I'm lucky that out of 5 cases, 800 rounds of gold metal 90s and over 200 rounds of the TMJ 75s and a couple boxes of the 60s I'm not seeing any split necks and not a single primer has fallen out. The cheap 75s also shoot pretty good out of my rifle, 3064 FPS and just under an inch on average, a few freek groups in 1/2 moa range. I'm just reluctant so shoot much of it because I don't want to blast away barrel life. I just cleaned all my empty's for reloading and they look good. I have a case of hornady 88s in the mail, it should be here next week. I'm hoping it shoots as good as the gold metal.
