With Mexico electing a leftist "Trump" you guys think we will have more Mexicanos coming over the border or less? Place your bets!

From knowledge leaders in this area, AMLO has led a campaign that mimic'ed a leftist version of Donald J. Trump. Promising socialist programs to help the poor, promises to fight corruption and fight the cartel leaders. Problem is, he's backed up those assertions with no real plans. Are we going to see Mexico end up like their 2018 World Cup run? Only time will tell. (No offense to our President, the parallels between the campaigns were purposefully done by AMLO)

In addition, his nationalistic appeals, including a promise to defend Mexicans against U.S. bullying also helped win votes.

or is he just doing the same thing the commies do when they say they "will stand up to the NRA"......just make a statement that sounds great but has no actual merit behind it.

I believe Mexico will finally be the people to make socialism a thriving, wildly, successful system.

Sure it has failed everywhere else but Mexico can make it happen.

Anyone on the southern border should buy ammo now!

Tell you what patrolling the border would have been way more enjoyable than playing fuck, fuck games in LeJeune.

Setting up hooches in the field, running patrols, night time under a barren wilderness sky with the stars of the Milky Way clearly visible.

Sure would be more enjoyable than trips to the motor pool or Armory to clean shit.

The new Commie pres. Said he won't help on the border, it's our problem. Put the Army there.

That's fine zero aid, waste of money anyway, and the Pershing Division gets stood up on the border.

I think they remember who Pershing was.

Gives a whole new meaning to li8ve fire exercise . And I'm pretty sure that the cross border incursion by the Mexican Military to rilun blocker for Cartel shipments w9uld stop real quick after the first lead subsidy to the Mexican Army .

Didn't I hear them say that he ran/got elected on the promise to clean up the drug cartels, but that he also said he would do nothing to inhibit the drug smuggling at the border? Isn't that like saying, "Elect me because I'm going to do this thing, but also elect me because I'm NOT going to do that very same thing."?

He is going to offer them amnesty.

I might be wrong but in order for that to work wouldnt the cartels have to be under some form of duress in order to make it worth their while to seek quarter.

Based on the body count this election cycle Im guessing its more likely the politicians will be saying "No Mas! Por fa vor!"

No. It means that he’s in the pocket of someone, and they are paying him to get rid of the competition.

It's certainly obvious that no matter what, the cartels will be stronger rather than weaker under this kind of leader, but I am confused about his campaign messaging, to the point that I think I must have not heard correctly. I thought he ran on cleaning up the cartels, but that he wouldn't do anything to stop drug smuggling.
