Mounting PSR Atlas bipods/non rotating legs "upgrade"

Good evening SH'ers,

I am in the process of switching over from Harris and Atlas BT10 bipods to the BT46's (PSR series) for the non rotating legs.

I really don't feel the need for the QD mount as I will be leaving the bipod on all the time. The BT10's allow this with a screw clamp however the PSR series seems to only use the ADM-170-S mount for mounting to rails. I am told there is no way to use the clamp that comes with the BT10 V8 series on the PSRs.

I am a cheapskate and would rather not have the added expense of the QD when I won't use it.

Has anyone found any options other than the QD for mounting the PSR series to rails???

I'm sure this as been thought over and there is no option, but could you stop the legs from rotating on the V8 series and continue the use of the bipod? So gluing the legs would not be the solution. I noticed that all Atlas did was mill a groove in the inside leg and insert a set screw in the outside leg. I could have this done by my neighbor, but I think it would not be practical.

Thank you for your time,
Steve

pretty much every dealer and B&T themselves sells the PSR as a NC (no clamp) model

there is NOT a 2 screw option like the BT10

I would get the QD, BTC-PRO for pic and RRS mounting, or the new area 419 arcalock if running only RRS rails

You can order a no clamp model from Midwest and then putt whatever clamp you want on it.
I don't think buying the no clamp model is an issue, what clamp that is less expensive than the Atlas works? Also purchased separately and paying shipping, you might be better off with the QD that's made for it.

If you know can answer that, then it will certainly be an option.

Thank you.

Yes that is what I have found, no two screw clamp like the V8 or that would be my answer. I am very happy with it on my BT10's.
I will check out the BTC-PRO and the 419. Had not seen that option, thank you!

Graham,

Thanks for the option of the BTC-PRO. Looked at it and it would be an excellent alternative but it is the same price as the QD from Atlas. Looks like there is no less expensive way to mount the PSR to a pic rail like the V8 series has OR fixing the legs on the V8 so they will not rotate.

I certainly have found the non rotating legs much better. Had to load the bipod unless the legs are deployed in the 45deg mode.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Steve
