Hey fellas, I'm in the market for a scar17. 2 of my local gunshops say they are having trouble locating anything in stock. But they are still looking.
    Can anyone lend a hand?
I searched gunbroker and those prices are more than I'm willing to pay

SCAR-17s have been hard to get a hold of and very expensive if you can find one since the first big gun ban scare a few years ago. I paid $2250 for mine in 2011, now if you get one for under $3k, you’re doing good. Just keep looking. Sometimes they pop up on the hide for sale, but usually the prices are still ridiculous.

Don’t bother looking for an OD green one, because they don’t exist (unless painted by a third party). Black or tan are your options. Most people want the tan one, so you’ll probably have slightly better luck finding a black one.

FN only sells through Distributors. Distributor prices are in the $2.6K - $2.7K range. So yeah, if you can find one under $3K at a Dealer grab it. I would say just hang in there and keep looking, there was one for sale on here not too long ago that was a steal. You can always throw a bid in on the GunBroker auctions as well. The Firearms industry in general is a little weak right now so there may be some folks looking to offload some expensive inventory at a reasonable price. Good luck!

I'm waiting on word from the dealers I'm going through to give me a yes or no. If they cant find then I'll ask them about gunbroker sales.

The FN 17S and 16S come in waves, every 6 months, and are pushed to distributors. The last push was in the June time frame so you may be waiting 6+ months. If your FFL is not a large shop...it could be longer. Demand for these weapons is outpacing supply. A 17S at/around $3k is a very good market value right now. Okay with a used rifle....you MIGHT save a couple hundred dollars. Two used 17S rifles with starting bids, on gunbroker, of $2,900 and they will sell at that price.

Bravo is correct; for months and months you couldn't find an FN Five-seveN to save your life; suddenly every Distributor in the Country was flush with them. I know it's like waiting for Christmas to come (you know like when we were little) but if I was giving advice I would say just wait it out. They'll be back in Dealer inventory maybe towards the end of the year, beginning part of next. There's really no reason to overpay based on their cycle of production.

I bought mine on gunbroker last year for $2700. It's my favorite semi-auto to shoot, but I doubt I'd be willing spend an extra $600 today for the same rifle. Unfortunately, FN increased the MSRP on 17s, and like others have said above me, FN is importing less units at the moment. You may be shit out of luck and have to pay a ~20% markup if you really want one.

Well I canceled the backorder on the Scar17 and bought the new POF Revolution 308.
I didnt want (another AR) but when I saw this one I felt it was worthy lol. I'll post pics when I get back home. I'll be mounting a new Pulsar xp50 thermal on it. This will mostly be a hunting gun so I wanted lightweight. And this is actually lighter than the Scar17

picking up my second scar tomorrow. G trigger, kdg rail, modified grip and four mags for $3k. Deals are out there, but you got people trying to sell theirs with some upgrades for$5k so you have to sort through the junk. I’ve owned more than a few 308s including a few lmts, a gap 10, m1a, ptr. Scar is the all around best package imo

The SCAR 17S is an heirloom rifle. Many will balk at this statement...but the factory rifle will outlive/outperform most shooters. The SCAR series of rifles is becoming the "revolver" of this generation.

Have a bunch on armslist close to me in montana. I have one in fde that I'd sell with a bunch of mods but is currently having accuracy issues. I'd sell it but u may wanna send to fn to have them go over it. Only have 300 rounds down it.
