So tonight I was making 22-250 ammo for the 788. Probably the most accurate gun I have with least amount of prep. Full length size, prime, powder, and load. Well tonight about half way threw my batch I noticed a clump of powder on the side of my funnel. Which is odd I always double tap the side with the pan from the chargemaster. Well there was probably 12-15 sticks of varget stuck to the side of my funnel. So immediately I knew something was wrong. So I started digging threw that clump and noticed the kernels were wet. Hmmmm ok so I dumped out the case and about half the powder came out. The rest was stuck in the bottom. So after tapping and digging those kernels were wet also. And I remember I took a drink out of the mt dew I brought with me. So I look at the can. The whole can is covered in condensation. The only explanation I have is that a drop fell off the can directly into the funnel.

What would have happened if I hadn’t of noticed the wet powder. I’m assuming a bullet stuck in the barrel?

All the new reloaders out there pay attention to every detail!

If the powder is wet enough to affect the primer then there may not be ignition. Glad you caught it. Avoid cold drink near the reloading bench maybe?

Ok I can’t believe I am going to admit to doing this but here we go.
A few years ago I had just finished up reloading a few rounds and had just emptied the powder hopper back into the 1lbs container and left the lid off of it. Got busy and wasn’t paying attention and grabbed the 1lbs container instead of my spitter and spit right into it. Luck for me I knew I did it (mid spit) and just threw the entire container away.

Very true. I do at work but not when I don’t have to. Wow all this talk about swallowing you would swear we were either hookers or in jail. Lol

1. Nothing (either it fires out the barrel or doesn't fire at all)

2. A stuck bullet.

3. An explosion.

1 and 2 are probably more likely with 3 occurring if the pressure is sustained long enough and high enough (I've never seen it, only read about it).
