AIAT in a normal stock?

In all seriousness, I do believe that the “magic sauce” in the AI system (whether AT or AX) is the bonded chassis to action interface. I know from personal experience and a few rounds downrange with both, that the ergos may not be perfect and in some situations it may not be the ideal “gamer” PRS chassis. But what it lacks in that, it makes up in rock solid reliability, durability, precision and accuracy. There’s something to be said about mags always feeding, the action always cycling, the trigger always going bang, and the round always hitting where you were aiming (unless you’re on a barricade lol).

IMO I think it’s cool that guys have debonded ATs and tried out the MPA chassis, and I also remember seeing one in a Manners stock but never saw the outcome of that experiment. But for me the juice isn’t worth the squeeze. At pretty much every major match I’ve shot, someone with an AI ends up ahead of me. That tells me I’m leaving points on the table because of ME, not because the stock isn’t perfect.

If Tom makes it happen in a T4A/T2A/T6, I would drop $$ in a heartbeat!

If a few hundred extra bucks doesn’t bother you, I’m pretty sure Long Rifles Inc would inlet and bed a blank Manners stock for you if you send them the AI action. They have their baller CNC bedding option for like $750, which isn’t as expesive as it sounds because the non-inletted stocks are cheaper to start with.

I've been shooting mine for over a year now. My mags always feed, my trigger always goes bang, everything works just as well as it did in the AT chassis but it's better now in the mpa. The vertical grip is better, the egos are better, and the accessories are better although I don't use any of them anymore

That message was to sambo

For some reason I can't quote or edit from my phone

Glad that it’s working for you. I tried an MPA chassis in another build and realized it wasn’t for me, even if on paper it has a lot more going for it than most other options. One thing that drove me crazy was no undercut on the trigger guard, for whatever reason it ‘literally’ rubbed my finger the wrong way. Baffling decision IMO since I pretty much can’t find another stock out there that doesn’t have an undercut. Also, the tiny-ass set screws to lock down the buttstock and cheekpiece adjustments made me scratch my head as well. I know the AT isn’t as adjustable and it’s unfair to use my AX as a reference, but I think the AI stands out with its robust engineering.

If everything is working for you I can’t really say there’s much of a downside if you like the MPA system and are willing to spend the dough. You could even argue that an AT + MPA is $1000 cheaper than a factory AX (it’s true)!

The only thing I could argue is if you and I both dropped our rifles off a roof. I’d put $20 on the line that the factory bonded AI is more likely to not break and still shoot where it’s aiming at vs the AT-MPA. But I haven’t dropped my rifle off a roof (yet) so maybe that’s not the most important factor haha.

i haven't dropped it off a roof but it's been kicked off a 4' platform by an asshole that wasn't paying attention, had a 7' tall dude land on it after jumping off that same platform at a different match, fell off the back of my couch and none of that moved my zero any but i did have an accident while practicing the prs barricade in wet grass where i slipped and busted my ass and ended up toss the gun 7' in the air then land on the muzzle first then hit the objective of my scope second. that knocked my zero 1.5 mils off but stayed repeatable

yeah it's had a rough life, after all of that happened my amg finally quit tracking so i had to send it in for repair but i'd say the rest of the system is pretty damn tough

Fair enough on all counts. I guess I'm used to the barrel vise/action wrench combo for my pre-2014, so I forget about the QC barrel.
