Rifle Scopes Who would sell their NF 7-35 for the Kahles 525?

I went from a 6-24 to the NF 7-35 and it was the best move I ever made. I wouldn’t go back to the Kahles at all.

The turrets on the NF are so much nicer and I hate how close the .1 Mil hashmarks are to each other on the Kahles. Hard for me to see where I am.

Keep these comments coming... I've been eyeballing (pun intended) the kahles 624, leupy mk5, possibly a NF ATACR and used pmii for a bit. Keep up the honesty! (I just acquired a leupy 3.5-25 mk8 and would like to hear some about it as well)

I wouldn't .. I like the wind dots on the t3 ...
7x on the bottom is too much for hunting ... I like 3x for that ... but 7x (or 5x) not too much for punching paper or dinging steel.

I wouldn't trade a my 7-35 ATACR for anothers 5-25 PMII but then again if you were talking about a 3-27 PMII rather than a 5-25 for a 7-35 ATACR I'd do it.
The only 3-27 pm2 that is upgrade from pm2 5-25 is the 34mil total adj.i dont that 2 power below and above from 5-25 matter..from those 3-27 with 26mil adj same as 5-25

I've had more Nightforce's over the years than I can even keep track of and they are far from so special that I would not trade one for a Kahles or other high end scope if there was a feature or reticle I wanted. The only NF reticle I find worth a shit in today's game is the MIL-C and still it is not anything special for hold overs. The Horus and Tremor reticles, just not not a fan. I feel they obscure too much when trying to spot impacts. The Kahles SKMR3 or Minox MR4 reticles are more useable to me. Yes they are rugged but the only scope I have ever had to send back for repair was a NF and I've owned all the big names, Schmidt, Kahles, Minox, U.S. Optics etc.

My buddy's 4-16 Hensoldt has by far the best eye box on any scope I have ever seen. Now if they were to make a reasonably priced 5-25 with an up to date reticle with that eye box I would suggest that trading it for something else in a similar market would not be advisable.

So unless you are loving the extra power of the NF and can't live without it I would say trade away. I have bought most of my scopes from Mike at CS Tactical and he always offers an unbiased opinion. Give him a shout as he plays with all of them and will give you sound advice.

Coming from a Schmidt I wouldn’t make that trade, especially the 3-27. I couldn’t use the ret on my 3-20 under 6x. I can’t imagine having your scope go that low would benefit. I think I’d only drop my 7-35 for a TT 5-25 and that’s only out of morbid curiosity as to what the “best” is.

The lack of reticles I find simple and usable is what turns me off from Nightforce. I am not a Horus/Tremor person, so that really only leaves the Mil-C. If they ever came out with the Mil-C tree I would be all over that in a heartbeat.

Ret viability at 3x is dependent on which ret you choose. The usability of having 3x is dependent on the type of use the rifle is purposed for. I'd do the trade but I do already have both and no need for another of either or plans of getting rid of either.

I had the H2CMR, which is among the thickest S&B rets. I bought the scope for mostly long range plinking and the yearly hunting trip. On 3x with the illumination all the way up at dawn or dusk was the only way it was usable.

The p4 has thick duplex like lines at low power.

I've had the 624i, Mk5, currently have a PM2 and a NF 7-35.

The 624i glass is shit although the scope is great. It was an easy one to part with

The Mk5 has excellent glass, seems great mechanically, but I'm not a fan of the busy H59 or T3 reticles and there arent any other good offerings. Another easy one to sell

The PM2 has an MSR reticle and I've used it for 2 years or so now in matches. Glass is fantastic and I love everything about the scope other than the indented indicator for your elevation turret. The reticle only having .5 mil subtensions also leaves something to be desired but its simple and really never gave me any trouble splitting the .5 on targets to get my .2-.3 holds

The NF 7-35 is excellent. The MilC reticle is perfect (minus not having a little bit of a christmas tree if you like that) The small center dot and open crosshair is SO nice to use in place of a standard crosshair.
The glass is great but not quite as good as the PM2.
The turrets are awesome, the zero stop system is great.
My only bitch about the NF is that the whole goddamn eyepiece rotates, and even with the tenebrex caps something is always in the way that I find myself moving. Whether its the cap in the way of my turret, or my bolt, its always something. I wish Everyone would adopt the focusing system and eyepiece that the Leupolds have, a locking eyepiece and a separate zoom ring.

The NF replaced the PM2 on my match gun and I cant say that I ever consider swapping them back even with the small gripes about the NF. Extremely happy that I spent the money.

I also had to send back a NF and it was incredible at how well I was treated. They fixed a used scope that someone else screwed up and hid from me. They fixed it no questions asked and had t back in a week. I don’t know who warrants khales but it may be an overseas trip. The S&B service center in VA has been great and of course vortex is a good warranty.

NF all the way in this one.
