Ok so I am back to contracting again, and as such have a fair amount of disposable income again

I am wanting to buy (not build), a higher end DMR platform (repeatable, rapid shots from close quarters out to 800ish meters)

I’m currently looking at the 7.62 variants of the “AR” weapons platform.

Specifically

KAC SR25 ECC or ECR
HK MR762....(more specifically setup like the G28 or similar)
LWRC CSASS
LMT MWS

Looking for pros and cons from anyone who has any substantial trigger time behind any of the systems....or any other platform recommendations anyone may have.

I have trigger time behind the MWS and a KAC 110....just not a ton. So reaching out to the experts here

Thanks all

Are you going to be using this in theater, or is this just a new toy?

Home first, we have noveske N6s in theater. But I do have the option of taking whatever I buy over with me at some point.

You've been around so I think you already know how this song and dance will go. Out of the above options KAC is the only rifle I would consider.

In the world of Battle ready large frame AR's, there is really nothing that will surpass a SR-25 E2 PC. The new handguard feels way better in the hand than the previous cheese grater they had before. SUB MOA out of the box, comes with everything you need and nothing you don't. Awesome CS

A buddy of mine is Contracting in Afghanistan as we speak, he Called KAC and told them what he will be doing, so they hooked him up with that Military appreciation and supplied him with a few odd and ends in case he has any malfunctions or breakage in the field.

He's currently awaiting the new 6.5 Creedmoor upper that he will be topping off with a S&B Ultra short.

Roger that brother. I was leaning more KAC than anything else. Guess that made my decision for me haha. I’ll shoot them an email tomorrow

Of those I'd stick with the LMT or Knights.

I honestly don't see the point in overpaying for the knights as a lot of their components are built by LMT anyways. Plus with the LMT you're getting the most robust upper receiver on the planet. If quick barrel changes are your thing then it's a win/win. If you take the rifle overseas I'm thinking a 20" .260/6,5 barrel and a 13.5" 7.62 barrel

I know that LMT does make parts for KAC, but I'd sure like to know what parts these are? ... I've had both KAC And LMT, and my LMT Slick was a POS!! Brand new out of the box the BCG had Chrome flaking off, that gunmetal graphite coating on the receiver extension wiped right off with a rag, and the Upper/Lower Receiver fit was so far out of spec it couldn't cycle properly. Oh and the supplied torque wrench was just junk. Then came the really fun part with the shitty customer service.

With the exception of the commonalities with the lower receiver I see no real relationship between the two, especially when it comes to the quality of barrels and BCG's. KAC parts are clearly manufactured to a higher quality than LMT.

....something to consider is the logistics equation in theater. During my time in the IROA, it was not uncommon for those non-MIL folks to to utilize equipment that was common to what the MIL forces had. If parts were needed during ops outside of their base ops, they could (if available) arrange with any relatively nearby FOB's to get replacement parts and/or services. KAC products were the most represented during my time there, `07-`08 fighting season.
