Accuracy International Picture Thread

I don't think anyone questions why one would upgrade to any AI variant
Also, Sage Green will always dominate. As you can see in the picture above, the Sage Green rifle (mine) actually blends in to the grass, and since we don't live in the desert, your tan rifle will always look odd.

I don't know man, that grass looks awfully dead, Pale Brown if you will.

Elite Sand is, well, Elite... As in, better than all other colors. The elite accuracy is just a bonus.

I may be alone on this. And it may not technically be a color depending to which scholar you talk.

But no love for black?

Dark Earth > Pale Brown

Since they’ve been out a few months now, what is everyone’s feedback on the comp trigger? Is there zero over travel? My AT does a slightly odd thing where the shot brakes, trigger stops, then creeps back if you keep it held down.

I put in a comp trigger for two reasons: limit 1st stage travel and overtravel. The trigger comes with two springs, one light pull the other heavy. I installed the heavy spring from the start.

The trigger worked for both of my needs. 1st stage travel was reduced significantly and overtravel is much shorter the standard trigger. Not zero but much less. Triggers breaks at 3#'s nice and crisp, as did the standard trigger.

I spent 3 hours one evening adjusting/installing/testing the trigger when I first installed it. Having never done it before all adjustments were made in very small increments following the instructions. There's been no need to re-adjust since.

The comp trigger did not make the rifle more accurate. It did, however, make the dummy pulling the trigger a little better. For me, money well spent.

The comp trigger is awesome, makes it way easier to shoot on barricades and stuff. Over travel is fully adjustable, I adjusted mine all the way out so it breaks and there’s a wall after.

I can see it being a huge help for positional shooting. I occasionally notice a brief 'whens it gonna go off' in my mind when I'm holding on something unstable and squeezing lol.

I would like some advice. I have decided it's time to get a new AX. I already have 4 precision rifles, 2 chambered in .308 and two chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor. I do not reload and haven't felt I've missed out on accuracy to this point as I've gotten great results with factory loads in both calibers. Since I have four short action rifles I've been thinking about an AXMC in .338LM for something different. Have any of you with an AXMC chambered in .338LM had good results with factory match loads? If this gun and caliber requires reloading to get, say 1/2 moa accuracy, then I'll most likely stick with an AX in another SA caliber. Thanks for you advice.

So far my AXMC has been incredibly tolerant in 338. It's the only 338 I've had but when I first got it I shot some really "cheap" American eagle soft points 250 through it since I hadn't yet gotten dies and it shot that around 3/4 moa. I have only hand loaded since then but all the loads I tried across 5 grains (8 loads) were all under .75 with the best being .3 most around .4-.5.

Can finally contribute!!! Shot @jwood1284 AIAT back in June of this year to see if I wanted an AT. 100 rounds later I was sold and scrapped the idea for a PVA Mausingfield build. Haven’t been to the range since, haven’t bought anything, barely went out to eat, and basically saved every penny I could. Called MHSA and Mike gave me a great deal on an AT (seriously, the MIL/LE discount is amazing). MHSA also sent me a 49 in/lb torque limiter for free!

Today praise God, I was finally able to pick up my AIAT.

Thing oozes quality. Very glad I was talked into going with the folding version by @samb300 and others.

The Seekins rings are not ideal as no scope cap will fit, but they’ll do for now. Will get some ARC rings later. Just need an Atlas CAL and for samb300 to make another run of pic railed spigot mounts and I’ll be ready to shoot. The samb300 thumbrest is nice, my thumb is a bit cramped, but it’ll stay on the rifle. Super easy installation too following along in his video.

Got the standard trigger in here, honestly don’t see the need for the competition trigger, but I have never felt that trigger. Love the fact that I can move the trigger shoe forwards and backwards, really helps my medium hands. Already shortened the LOP as well, very happy with everything so far. I’ll have to get some trigger time to finalize all adjustments though.

I’ll definitely get some better pictures and targets up once I can gather more funds for the range.

Definitely a prayer answered and a rifle that my great grandkids will be able to use after I’m long gone.

I'm 500 rounds into my new-to-me AIAT. 20" 1-10 barrel, loves 175 SMK

Ye, I know it's got the peanut butter skins, but it seems to shoot O.K. 5 at 100 yds.

Without the dime.

.308
Lapua brass 3rd firing
BR2
175 SMK
44.7 grs Varget.

Regardless of the color I think I'll keep it.

^^^I wish. Will edit to 100 yards.

Maybe the next AI will print like that at 1000.

Niiiiiice! Glad to see you finally got it! I have to ask how much the NV setup cost. I won't be able to afford NV for a LONG time, most likely, but using it as a bridge to keep bag straps off my barrel might be nice, and eventually I WILL have an NV setup for it. You did well!

Thank you, the CZ-455 you bought from me definitely helped me towards this rifle. The NV Bridge and rail retails for about $275 - $300. I was fortunate and actually found the package used on the Accessories PX here for $200.

I may never be able to afford NV, I just like the looks and it will allow me to mount AI folding buis when I can afford them. I am an iron sight addict. This rifle will eventually have a spare 30” medium palma barrel and palma sights.

Definitely going to need some grip tape on the forend and athletic tape on the grip, that plastic is slick!

Just dry firing off my Sprite can tripod (hope the wife gets me a Pig0311 tripod and I can afford a Hog Saddle for Christmas). The Sprite can tripod basically buckles with any forward force, but it works(ish).

Did notice the bottom of the buttpad loves to really dig into my chest/shoulder junction. Had to trim it to be bearable.

Yes, both AIs I’ve had got that pointy corner of the buttpad cut off right away!

Could anyone who is loading rounds for their AXMC in 300 win mag tell me the cbto or coal they are using please?

Would anyone have a pic of the width compared between an AT and AX, both folded?
I ask as it's one thing I'm considering as I climb the AI ladder.

I started with a AI chassis and a stock rem eons ago and have sold/traded up every model and at an AT now (taking it back-I got that chassis from Stacey Blankenship!

Not in stock form, but there is an accessory buttpad you can get that will give you that ability. It's a very nice addition. :)

Is the buttpad your refering to part: AI-1044?
If so, do you know the maximum vertical travel on the pad?

The AI target buttpad for the AW/AE/AT only allows about 5/8" of upwards vertical adjustment or so, nowhere near as much as on the AX.

Of course, the expensive and more difficult option is to buy the AX buttstock retrofit kit...

The pictures I posted a few days ago in this thread show my AT with the Target adjustable buttpad. I have mine set as high as it will allow. It’s also tilted a little to the left, so it’s a little deceptive, but it will give you a good idea of how much height adjustment is available.

Took my future brother in-law out today. Got my TBAC Ultra 9 out of jail yesterday so I wanted to check it out. He had never shot a bolt action or suppressor. Needless to say he had a perma grin most of the time.

Now he’s ruined for life. Lol. Start him on the best rifle and can, now everything else is gonna come up short! Lol. Glad he had a good time.
