Been trying to decide between the regular hmr and the pro for awhile...Cabela’s/Bass pro carry the regular hmr with 24” barrel in the 6.5

It's worth it for the premium action, coated barrel/action assembly and trigger tech. I couldn't wait anymore and bought a standard HMR, grey stock and 24" from Scheels. I love it to death but I do wish I'd have waited.

I own a Bergara LRP, which has the premier action set in an XLR element chassis. When comparing while in the store, there was a very noticeable difference between them with the premier being much smoother. I was prepared to buy a B14, but the owner suggested I handle the LRP and I was sold and went home with it.

My LRP has been very good, and I'm very pleased with it.

I think I’ll have to check them out more in person. The regular hmr I have found for $800 and the pro I can’t find any better than $1600, seems like it would have to be a lot better for twice the cost

That’s what I thought the map pricing was but since there is a shortage everyone that has them in stock is high. I would think once stock comes in pricing might settle to maybe $1300-1350 take home price?

big thing for me was the 24" barrel and the color. the trigger is night and day better with easier adjustment. cant go wrong either way i just never sell guns so i buy the better version every time. not to mention how sick it will look with a fluted barrel on it.

I hear the points to step up to the pro but scheels and cabelas both have the regular hmr with the 24” barrel and then I could throw an aftermarket trigger in and be way under what the pro is selling for.

Yea they shipped mine Wednesday and looks like I’ll have it tomorrow. Great guys to deal with so fricken easy. I’ll update this with a full write up if it doesn’t snow on Saturday in good ol colorado

Finally got out to the range for beginning load work up. I just made a quick trip to the nearest range so I was limited to 100 yards. Pretty much all test loads were moa or better with 41.5 h4350 being the best at this point. Was working in .5 increments up to 42.5. I will start working around the 41.5 and playing with seating depths to see if I can dial it in a little better. So far very happy with the rifle and I can’t wait to stretch it out there!!!

That was exactly my findings, 41.5 of H4350 was the ideal charge, 2,710fps with 140 eldm's. I started to get firm bolt lift at 42.5 and was travelling further from the node. Im sure there is another node at a higher charge weight, but my rifle did not like the pressures.

Now Im working up a load using reloder 16, as H4350 was hard to find last summer and I scored a 8lb in Re16 and a few single pound cans. A few guys I shoot with have had very good luck with the RE16 and see more consistent velocities over our 4 seasons in MI than with H4350.
