How about we tell them we'll think about it if they also lower the age to get married, have sex with adults, leave home, graduate school, No longer need to be supported by "child support" or their parents, join the army, drive, smoke, drink & buy "assault rifles" to 16

My guess is their heads will explode at those ideas and we won't have to have a further discussion.

Pretty much their next desperate attempt to find ignorant / stupid voters that are still being indoctrinated in school and have no clue since the Communist support base is drying up / dying out / getting smart a bit too fast for them.

DC is trying to build their dem base early. This has been a hot topic locally since Trump took office here. Its total madness to put that responsibility on someone with no life experience who will most likely vote for what their brainwashing teachers fill their heads with. I went to college right after high school and joined the military at 18 after my first semester. I thought I had it all figured out when I was applying to colleges and did not realize that I had no clue where to go in life and how to get there until finishing up my 1st tour in Iraq.

The founding fathers required that you be a male land owner over 21 years old for a reason.

Back then, 21 was middle age. The comparative knowledge and life experience of a 21 year old in the 1700's would be more like a 30 or 40 year old today. The land owning part was to ensure that only those with skin in the game were making the decisions.

I say lower it to 5. Since votes don't matter thanks to the Electoral College, it doesn't matter the age. Cue the defenders of the Electoral College now......Ready.......Set......GO!

How about we give the vote to goats. Everything being as fluid as it is (gender, nationality, race, ethnicity, chromosome count and geometry) I see no reason to deny them. The god Pan was half goat. I hear that Corey Booker's backside is deeply gouged with striations reminiscent of the hooves of a goat. Ted Kennedy is renowned for his agility in the pursuit of goats during drunken summers on Nantucket (whispers in certain corners say once such specimen resembled a young Elizabeth Warren).

The eventual primacy of the goat within Democrat party politics was foreshadowed in The Feast of the Goat by Vargas Llosa. That time has come.

I think that meme is in poor taste. The guy obviously has down syndrome. In reality, hes been through more than you have. And probably smarter.

Anyways, I say make the voting age 21. High schoolers has absolutely no business voting. Their argument as to why people under 18/21 cant do certain things, is because "theyre just too young to be able to make those decisions themselves." But on the other hand, they want high schoolers to be able to vote, which effects EVERYBODY. Not just themselves.

Reason they gave it to High schoolers was cause they are of military age.

If you are sent to fight, you get a say.

The alternative of raising the military age is not the alternative.

We cant have as effective an army without the young, fit and -sorry but to point- underdeveloped brains that havent learned the realities of life which makes them good at overcoming the impossible yet incapable of understanding the BS.

Really pulling this shit here? Well guess what? I myself have mild autism. I'm sure everyone already knew that, but you know what? I don't hide behind it or use it as an excuse when I do stupid shit. We all do stupid shit. That's what makes us human and not machines. I may not have down syndrome, but as someone with autism, I would much rather be made fun of for it and everyone including myself gets a good laugh, rather than having people feel sorry for me and treating me different.

I'm sure what they're envisioning is a bunch of far left progressive high school "social studies" teachers telling their students how to vote, and then leading field trips to the polls on election day, just to be sure everyone follows instructions.

I don't understand...According to the article, they are saying they would be able to vote in ALL elections (including Federal). Isn't it out of their jurisdiction to determine who can be allowed to vote in a Fed election? Isn't that governed by Fed election law and overseen by the FEC? I've seen where a few other cities have done something similar (including allowing illegals to vote), but it was all for local elections only. If they can unilaterally decide to let minors vote in Fed elections, what's to stop them from doing the same for illegals? Something doesn't make sense about this - it doesn't seem to me like it could stand up in court.

Pulling what "shit" here? Defending a person with down syndrome is, "pulling shit"? Lol shut the fuck up.

Yeah, Im sure everybody with disabilities loves getting made fun of. I have a young cousin with austism, and if I told him he was a very funny "retard", his knees would buckle and start crying. Even though he gets made fun of every day at school, it doesnt get easier for most. Its an internal scar that never heals.

Again, shut the fuck up. Id seriously bounce your fucking face off my knee right now. Then people could make fun of you for your fucked up nose.

And no skookum, its not. Its my first time seeing a meme making fun of a DS individual in my 4 years here. But if this crowd likes making fun of people with disabilities, it may well be my last. Classless. I expected more class from a conservative bunch.

I suppose there is a reason only a handful of regulars post in the pit.

Look dick...
If I was making fun of the subject in the pic directly that would be in bad taste.
If your skin is thin I'd suggest looking into some cooking forums or other.
By your virtue signal you decide to insult me to stand up for the guy in the pic... GFYS

I took that meme as the DS kid trolling everyone, dont be so willingly offended.

It's a Meme from the internet created not to mock anyone with Downs but rather just to illustrate the absurdity of something. If your offended I'm sorry. If your too offended thats on you...

Runs amok when you factor in being drafted to fight a war declared by someone you have no control over. Not that your vote actually gives you any real semblance of control, but at least you have the feels. Everyone loves the feels. All the feels.

I have an Autistic son that's twenty, so I've been living the realities daily since he was 6. He's now becoming violent, destructive, and threatened to kill us after taking a knife from the kitchen.

I didn't take offense or have an issue with the meme. People will be people and they are far from perfect..... that's why I spend as much time as possible with my dogs.

If you don't have a kid in the fight, maybe you should just stay on the sidelines. (y)

I had an epileptic dog once. Can I comment?

Lowering the voting age, huh, wonder who they thought that'll benefit most?

On the other hand, the child belongs to the parent at that age so you can vote for the child. An extra vote. Go for it.

And for the other fuckers? Those kids are at the rebellious stage. Push a bunch of political shit at 'em and see what happens. I bet half would vote against whoever their parents voted for, if not more.

Blowback can be a motherfucker.

I firmly believe that if you’re not part of the workforce and paying taxes, then you shouldn’t get a vote. I think that would really change the demographics in DC. Obviously there would have to be some arrangement made to allow for individuals who were now in retirement.

I bet disabled veterans love you. I can only imagine how meager your tax contributions must be to make this delusional aggrandized sense of worth a thing.

I've never served a day in my life in any branch of the US Armed Forces, but my little brother is currently serving in the USAF and I got tons of Army and Marine friends and family. That said, it disgusts me how the VA basically fucks the asses of Vets coming back who became disabled while in combat. We all here at the Hide know my feelings about voting, but to deny someone who took life threatening injuries for this country their right to vote all because they're unemployed while faggots like me sit around and don't vote? Fuck that!

God bless all you Service Men and Women out there!

If you're on welfare, no vote at all. Otherwise Competency Exams should be madatory. I have to get a license to drive, why not have to get one to vote. Both tools are rather dangerous in the hands of the incompetent. I don't care what age you are so long as you can THINK and read.

Welfare is the safety net to keep us from being a 3rd world country. Do some abuse it? Yeah. But some deserve and aren't even getting it. Left in the cracks. My Granny was one. If we're gonna start instituting exams and prerequisites, I'm all for it. And I think a voter exam wouldn't be too far out there, provided it wasn't designed to exclude. But hey, we'll start with the biggest tax abusers of all: the fucking congress. How about this:

If you (well, they, US, etc.) wanna serve so bad, start with basic and AIT in the MOS of your choice. Upon completion and receipt of DD214 stating honorable discharge, NOW you are eligible to take the PUBLIC Federal IQ exam. And it's not one meant to exclude, it's just one meant to keep the morons out, which seems to be a problem this will solve. We can use MENSA as a cutoff but use Prometheus' methods.

--The test can administered by Mensa. Or Prometheus. Graded for the 50 percentile cutoff. Basically, half the population is above this line. With our educational system, that may be stretching it a little, but for sake of argument. You don't take the kid out of special ed to run the advanced classes --but that's what we do with our leaders. I thought we could do better but at my age the ether wears thin.

--The vet thing should be a no-brainer. If you want to be rich and run a company and all that shit, you need to stay in school. If you wanna run a country, to "serve" as they all put it, start serving in service. Approximately half the adult population has been in military service in some capacity or another. Don't need to be a hero. Don't need to be an operator. Don't need to be a door kicker. An AF cook with a good DD214 is sufficient. So why does it seem like it's a prerequisite to NOT have been in the military?

But this isn't what we do, is it? We really scrape the fucking bottom when it comes to looking for leaders, don't we? And choose them like it's a high school popularity contest. And I guess that's what it should look like, given the lack of service or intelligence requirements. Wow. I'm done.

Oh, but the biggest problem is gonna be this. Most schools happen to BE the polls, so it's super easy to get 'em to vote. Then give 'em a prize, or half the day off, or whatever. Sounds like it's good to get kids proactive, yeah? To make them part of it? To feel invested?

Okay, but what about all the nonstop political advertising they get round the clock? Don't think it's real? I installed the security on Seattle Prep School. It's the number one school I think. Those kids were learning in HS physics much of the same stuff I was taking at the same time in 200 level college physics. So smart kids.

But their halls were plastered with SJW causes, Obama shit over and over and over and.... A big deal about Al Gore and removing the Kudzu vines from the campus --why couldn't the kudzu be removed without mention of Al Gore? And it was just nonstop, these kids were inundated 24/7 with this shit. There was no voice given to the opposition except to mock or otherwise denigrate them further.

At UW campus, there was practically no voice at all for anyone but Obama. It was like they were truly in love. Nobody was asking questions. "It does what it's told"

i have weird ideas about who gets to have a say so about who runs the country.

Ready?

Election day is a paid holiday. We all take the day off and vote for our future leaders. There is a recall - the officials need to state in writing what they stand for. If at the end of 12 months they have not accomplished anything or gone against what they stated in writing that they would vote for they are booted, prosecuted for perjury and and another election tales place.

Anyone who doesn't vote has no claim to any benefits. No SS - No unemployment, no citizenship rights. Don't vote? Yer not a citizen. People not registered/not citizens who vote are prosecuted and jailed.

The voting age is the age of legal consent. 18, 21, 10, I don't care. If you can vote you can do anything...I suggest 21.

All votes are cast on paper ballots. Every voter gets a receipt on how they voted that can be tallied later by an independent group of vetted counters. No machines - no software. A vote is a legal document (like a time sheet) and any one who tampers/cheats has committed a federal crime and does jail time.

No Electoral college - straight votes. The one with the most votes wins. No exceptions.

Repeal Citizens United. All politicians must spend any money they get for advertising or send it back when they are done. They cannot accept anonymous money and none of it can be used by the candidate except for advertising. Sick and fucking tired of billionaires being able to contribute millions of untraceable $ for favors to political candidates. You buy a candidate you get liquidated, jailed, and the candidate gets the same. No. More. Bribing. Candidates.

And the list goes on and on but that's enough for now.

So full of great intentions.
So little understanding of the nightmare you will unleash.
But on the plus side, it will guarantee the SJW Communist Democrats take over the country in short order and we might get a civil war... or just loose freedom forever.

If you take the time to do some historical research, you'll be able to see in fairly short order the reasons quite a few of your "solutions" were soundly rejected.

I’m a disabled vet. I’ve had problems finding and/or keeping work. I’ve had to take food stamps once or twice. I’ve earned my vote... hear me clearly.. the only thing you have to actually have money for is to pay taxes.. why should any man be forced to be insnared into that trap.. now to get back on track.. anyone given the power to wage war or vote on it needs to be required to serve. Anyone voting should prove they are legal. Civilian oversight needs to be present to stop recounts in states were your brother is governor. People shouting “we need to kill cracker babies” in front of a polling place to intimidate voters should be taken into custody and released to designated lynch mob. Protesters must be required to display who they voted for on their signs. Politicians should be required to have a regular job. No free rides for life.
