Athlon Cronus BTR illumination compared to Athlon ARES ETR Illumination ?

I have both optics and unless something is wrong with my New Athlon Cronus BTR I think that the ARES ETR is far superior to the Cronus in the illumination comparison !

What are your thoughts on those that have compared the two?

Edit: After doing further observation I discovered that on max 29 magnification that the “6” is chopped in half on both sides of windage. This was what was making me second guess the illumination factor on the cronus.

Is this normal for the Cronus BTR on max magnification, the reason I ask is because it is not the case on the Ares ETR ?

Sorry in advance for sounding like a noob !

Thanks

Jeff

Jeff,
If I understand what you're referring to, as a FFP, when you zoom to max the reticle is drawn in so much that it is cutting off part of the edge of the reticle detail.

I have both scopes as well, both of mine are equal in illumination. I would call Athlon. They have great customer service

This is exactly what is happening

Already talked to Athlon and they are asking me to send it back

Great customer service - Talked to Dustin

Sorry if this has been asked, but are the ares etr and cronus btr daylight bright like the gen 2 razor?

I ask cuz my gen 2 pst is not really daylight bright and I've been debating on a athlon cronus or ares.

(not switching scopes because of illumination, I'm just curious)

Curious on what should be illuminated in the reticle? I’ve got some random illumination going on with the windage xmas tree marks that are not in line with the actual reticle. Just received my BTR cronus. Love it otherwise

Have you compared the Cronus to a Razor Gen 2? I am trying to make a decision between the two. Obviously budget is a factor right now.

I compared them both but not the same day. I couldn't tell a difference on glass. The LTEC turrets on the razor are better feeling but for the money wasn't worth the extra. The Cronus has tracked well and has good feeling turrets, just not Razor good. But again for the money saved, well worth it. I picked mine up from Doug at Camera land for a steal on veterans day.
