6.5 Creedmoor (and 6.5PRC) added to Ruger Long Range Hawkeye

This may have been mentioned somewhere else but I just noticed that Ruger has added 6.5 Creedmoor and 6.5 PRC to the range of the Hawkeye Long Range. Previously, it was just available in .300 WM. I'm all about chassis rifles right now, but this seems like a GREAT "one shop stop" for someone wanting a long range 6.5...

I've already started buying parts for a massive chassis based bench gun in 6.5 CM, but this might have been an option for me had it been in place earlier. I don't know if they are out yet, only on the website.

I like that they are offering another factory/production rifle chambered in 6.5PRC. One of these days I’ll get around to snagging a 6.5PRC for another hunting rifle. Hopefully Tikka and Bergara will follow that same path too...??

I'm thinking you're right. I think the thing that appeals to me about the Hawkeye Long Range Target is that it is a factory rifle that DOESN'T LOOK LIKE a factory rifle...if that makes sense.

Sure wish this would have been out a few years ago when I bought my Remington 300 win. I saw one of these Ruger in 300 win for right at 1k. I think I paid about $615 for my Remington. Has a badger 20 moa rail, badger bolt knob, threaded the barrel and brake. By the time you add all that up I’m at the price point for this rifle.

Why? I carry my FN SPR hunting. 16+ pounds with scope. M1 Garand is 10 pounds. Been carried all over the world. Now if you mean high mountain elk or sheep hunting I understand. But 12-13 pounds for me is pretty good. Im thinking on adding weight to my M70 featherweight with a heavier barrel to get it UP to 10 to 11 pounds.

I think Ruger has done a fantastic job with the RPR.
A model 77 is a model 77 though.
Lost wax investment casting that is as crooked as a dogs hind leg, a fucked up trigger hanger and with no gunsmith willing to tackle trying to straighten them out.
They are, however, attractive rifles. They have made strides since the old man kicked the bucket.
I'll likely be sticking with Howa for the time being.

Honestly Remington deserves everything they have coming to them for their stupidity, I'm a Remington guy, but not anymore am I going to buy their outdated, not with the times rifles.

My local store has the 6.5 creed in stock for $996.00 so they must be available, Davidsons says out of stock 25 of the 6.5 creed available.... PRC is a popular round, says the mag holds 3 rounds.

So I know this is a few months behind. I have the Hawkeye LRT in 6.5cm I will say this thing is a tack driver. 1/4 moa from the factory without anything done. Inside is a very interesting combination though. It has an LC6 trigger which I originally believed to be a horrible decision from Ruger. But as I have fired it the trigger has actually gotten better. It went from 2.8 lbs down to an even 2 after about 500 pulls. Short throat and more than enough room for you to touch the lands with the supplied magazine or any AICS mag. It is a well crafted rifle. Compared to the RPR it is light years ahead of it right out of the box. Not to knock the RPR it is just superior in every way. The action is smooth as butter. And very clear positive engagement of the recoil lugs. The ejector system is always reliable as with any Mauser based action. On the lathe we checked for run out and only found half a thousandths. Almost as if the rifle came from a custom manufacturer. Mine is early production so I cannot speak for how they are running now. The only thing I have found wanting on this rifle is the muzzle brake. The factory one is decently effective but not the best a 419 sidewinder or hellfire was the finishing touches the rifle needed to be flawless. (I did find a spot on the bolt face with a bit that I had to take a needle file to because it chewed the primer pocket edge up but that was the only flaw I could find in the entire rifle) I rated this rifle a 9.5 out of 10 for the burr and muzzle brake. I regularly shoot to 1500 yards with it and it is repeatable every time.

If you get one they like 130 tmk, 140 eldm, and 142gr. ALOT. They also like to be run around 2800 for and reloader 16 is going to be your best option. Tried H4350 and some others that are traditional go too's and it didn't end well. Those powders have since become assigned as other options.

I stand corrected. Been awhile since I looked at which trigger was in which line it's the m77 mkII not the LC6. My apologies. Either way at 2 pounds it nice but I would still prefer a lighter trigger but that is personal preference not rifle performance.
