Flush Cup Mounts on Precision Rifles

Anyone out there have experience with bolt-on QD flush cup mounts on heavy precision rifles, i.e. M-Lok or KeyMod bolted to a chassis or forend?

It seems like the majority of them are anodized aluminum, but a few here and there are steel. I'm wondering if anyone has had any bad experiences with the aluminum mounts, and if it makes sense to use steel instead. I can see the aluminum being ok on a typical 8-9 pound AR, but a 20# precision rifle is a bit of a different animal.

Which one do you use on your AX? I wasn't aware of any 3rd party flush cup mounts.

The factory AI picatinny rails are aluminum but have steel inserts where the sling mounts into.

Just my experience, but I use an aluminum M-LOK qd mount on the forend of a 15.5-16lb rifle. I haven't had a problem with them. I believe the Magpul ones are designed to support something like 300lbs.

We make an m-lok compatible QD cup mount, geared for precision rifles that weigh upwards of 15 lbs. At first, we had the exact same concern as you, so we tested their strength until point of failure! Our QD's will support our fully loaded, 30 lb ACC Chassis system without issue, and we actually had one of our engineers try to break one by supporting a sling with two of the QD cups on an ESS forend, and hanging his full body weight from it.

If they're made right, they can be pretty strong
