So I stopped at my local gun shop today and they just got in 2 S&W Performance center LRR rifles. They sit in a chassis that looks very similar to a MDT. One, the price is around $1200, so already it's more than the rpr. The chassis, to me, is not very appealing. It is pretty heavy, which is probably from the lack of machining on the main body of the chassis. It also has a fluted heavy barrel and pretty small bolt knob. Really nothing very special that would stand out, especially for the price they are asking.
Then my buddy handed it to me and I cycled the bolt.....wtf. it hung up every 1-2 inches. So much that I could sit the buttstock on the desk and the bolt would hang there and not budge even when shaking the rifle. It even got stuck all the way forward and then all the way closed. Now I shoot all Tikka so I am used to a very smooth bolt, but this was horrible.
So I gave the other rifle the same test. A completely different rifle did the same damn thing. I just want to know if anyone has come across these yet and have had the same issues. I was not looking to buy one, just wanted to check out what S&W is bringing to the table.
