Feisol 3372 vs 3472.

SO this leads me to another question on my search.

Feisol CT-3372 M2 Rapid (3-section)
or
Feisol CT-3472 M2 Rapid (4-section)?

I like the idea of smaller collapsed length of the 4 section as this tripod will be used for hunting.
It will be used for gun, spotting scope, binos, and rangefinder.

I plan to put a RRS Anvil 30 - 3 platform adapter on it.

any insight in 3 section vs 4 section would be appreciated

I believe it is a personal preference.. As far as I am seeing it. 3 section is a little less portable but more stable. 4 section is more portable and somewhat less stable. I think the stability decrease with the 4 section will primarily be when using the last (thinnest) sections. For a person that packs their tripod, the length could be a deciding factor. For me, im looking for 40mm legs and 3 sections. The greater number of movable joints the more chance of dlop in the system. This is where the anvil 30 really shines for my view. Its also why some choose leveling bases. Good luck.

I would think so. They look great to me.

Yes, both are still very stable. @m1match and I have each of these and they are more than sufficient for shooting off of with either direct connection or a tactical table of some type (we use Abel tables).

I know someone who borrowed my RRS 3 section w/Anvil 30 for a sheep tag. Carried it over 100 miles of mountain climbing and used his Swaro btx spotter. Said he loved it and didn’t have any issue with it.

I like the 3 section for range and competition, I would probably go 4 section for serious hunting. I do know some who compete use 4 section RRS with no issues at all.


Decide how much time will be on each of those and then pick.

now I just need to find myself an anvil 30 type 3. I emailed RRS to see how long the backorder will be. Hopefully not too long.

If they wont get one in for a while I would recommend a leveling base. Unless you are going crazy angles I really like the weight and feel of the leveling base, especially RRS. Plus the price is less than a full ball head and you can sell in still used for a good price.

The only reason I bought the 3472 and not the 3372 is I bought it used from a friend. I don’t know why he chose the 3472. One advantage I discovered by accident is that fully collapsed the 3472 with my rifle clamped to the Anvil 30 is the perfect height for me to shoot from the sitting position. A 3372 would be too high.

I have shot off of both my 3472 and @MarinePMI’s 3372 and have not noticed any appreciable difference in stability.

I think the base of your tripod should be the same as an RRS, you should be able to get something like the TA-3-LC. I do not believe these do both like the Anvil does so if you are trying to use it mainly for picatinny you might be at a lose, but in the short term if you have ARCA it wouldnt be bad at all. Not sure what optics you are using on it but I would recommend an arca base over picatinny base (if they even exist).
