Night Vision NV and thermal kills...

Called in 2 cats and 4 dogs tonight on our second set. Cats get a pass and my partner and I each shot a dog apiece. This one wouldn't stop for anything. He was coming straight at me and got shot about 30 steps out. He was getting big quick.
Called in 2 tonight and smoked this good sized male at 106yds.
Thanks, didn’t see or hear anything for the first 3 stands. Played a few female long howls with some time in between. Played a female yodel howl once and 2 trotted through a frozen disced field from a blind spot. No sounds, I was actually standing up scanning and getting ready to leave. It’s been a weird start to the winter season for me.

Another cat the night before last, only did a couple sets and she came in on the second one
Cat we snuck up on last night. We were moving to some coyote howls and came upon this little guy stalking some does in an opening along a river. I was running an MK3 35mm on a Seekins 300 blk and my buddy shot this cat with a Reap IR on an Adcor AR in 762X39. I've never seen one up close, pretty wild spots and stripes.

I'm about as safety conscious as you can get, and do practice the finger off the trigger till ready as well as the other rules of firearm safety. I felt like I was ready, coyote was in a position to take a shot. I had just moved my finger down, but maybe 1/2 second too soon. At no point was I 'unsafe', I just missed. She had come in so quick I was a bit excited. I figured I'd get flamed for an 'accidental discharge', so it's a good lesson I guess. Guess you really won't take me out with you to show me the ropes now..
Killed a big boy Friday night. Did not tape him until Saturday morning, and did that with a chain. It came to 58", so this dude was probably exceeding 350lbs live weight. Unfortunately he was castrated, and looks like a feral New Hampshire...so I'm guessing some local trash decided to let him loose after they were done showing him. Unfortunately for me is that it means hogs like this come to our pastures/meadows and start tearing them up. Oh well, I got to put him on YouTube at least.

A good Boar out of half a dozen I cut down in a mob last night. Busy digging in a 2ft deep hole, he pretty much dug his own grave...
Just a quick question: is it easier to track a fast moving animal with a thermal scope or with a quality night vision clipon like a PVS 27? Would someone be giving up a lot with an NV scope over a thermal scope when it comes to hunting?
If you are trying to keep eyes on the critter in a wide open field there may be some question about which is better
But if you are trying to keep tabs on a living animal running through brush then thermal seems far better at keeping up with the critter. Picture of brush is not as pretty, but you can keep up with the critter easier.

Yes they are. The numbers of them is going off the charts in the Okefenokee. I never thought they would multiply as much as they have. Totally ruining my white tail plans.

Watched a very lean young Black Bear (175-LB) last night around 01:30. Range was right at my 200m marker. I watched via pvs-30 and thermal he literally stood up lean into the mild breeze and pick up my scent down wind. He was not having anything to do with my hog bait ( corn-strawberry-jello- cocktail). He circled back around my elevated box stand and proceeded to moan in protest of my presence. No shots fired. A night I will always remember.

Got another yote last night, the one that showed up close wasnt really the one I wanted but dead is dead.
I think there was 4 there total last night with something small running from me about 5 minutes after I shot.

I went out last night and I did not get shit .
What I did get, was a herd of Elk moved into the field about 01:00 that I was calling in and thy started grazing . Field was about Knee-high grass, They were only 150 yard off, and I watched with the Therm. and pvs-9 for while and they all walked off and stepped out of sight without a sound .
I stayed out there a while longer and made a few more calls, and then I packed up and walked out . I saw 11 of the Elk decided to stay and bedded down for the morning on other side of field, with a couple of smaller hot spots off to the side of them bedded (assuming they were calves) .

What I did get, was a herd of Elk moved into the field about 01:00 that I was calling in and thy started grazing . Field was about Knee-high grass, They were only 150 yard off, and I watched with the Therm. and pvs-9 for while and they all walked off and stepped out of sight without a sound .

WAS PRETTY MUCH A BIG WASTE OF MY TIME LAST NIGHT . out last night to a small farm I got a text, asking me to stop by to thin out few coyote . I been stopping by there off and on past 5+ years . Was pretty happy as they said they cut/hayed the grass week ago .
I pulled up there about 11:00 pm and turned the truck off and took letting my arrival noise fade for about 15 minutes . Putting helmet/pvs14 on and the Therm. around my neck . Powered up my pvs14 and Fuck me there was IR blasting everywhere across the other side of pasture in orchard in property next to where I was setting up . Looked like searchlights over London and the fucking Nazi Blitzkrieg .
Then BOOM went a rifle, and then the Quad 4x revving and rolling around making more unnecessary noise, with more IR panning blasting everywhere .
Was only a 2 minute walk back there . I jumped fence and went over back with Therm. and NV and seen them rolling out with nothing to show for there polluting educating new coyotes on one of my good spots were I have popped a lot of coyote over last several years .
I hung out there quiet and walked around irrigation pond, scanned real good with the Therm. and seen 2 coyote in an Orchard moving around . I made a few calls but coyote beat-feet the hell out the area .

I wish I had the luxury of a nicely fresh cut field. Tall scrub and thick brush gives them the advantage to run circles around me.
