I totally agree with that, it is downright petrifying how little critical analysis and research most people afford their own political opinions. Some things sound really good and reassuring at first, but the broader effects work counter to whatever the initial goals were— in most case a more civilized and/or productive society. History is a deceptively accurate barometer, and many Americans have a Fisher Price Jr. conception of what actually has happened. The individual is all too often thrown out with the bathwater when people talk about swift modification to the political and economic process, and not in a friendly way either. A great deal of persecution and ostracizing has been carried out with the resolve of a communal nobility engineered and supported by the authority and then given to the populace.
