Does Veer have a British accent? And other ramblings of Bender.

Hi,

I am pretty sure that is a custom Audemars Piguet (I remember MBS ordering a batch of custom Royal Oak models) but I will have to ask to confirm.

Sincerely,
Theis

Not an AP Royal Oak...custom or not, the case is never changed as it is the symbol of an AP Royal Oak. Usually custom and AP means jewels or special faces. AP has never made a case like that to my knowledge.

I am tracking it down as it is a custom of some sort.

I think it is a Cartier pasha chronograph...maybe a custom as Cartier is known to do that....Here is a similar version. Look at the way the band attaches to the case and to the case shape and pusher shape.

See, I can't have something like that. Just can't. Not that I don't like jewelry, watches and such - It's that I would without question end up turning them into $16,000 rifle setups, latest NV/Thermal tech, truck payment, etc... I could go on with this but I digress.

I just don't need to look that good!

It is my other vice in life and they are like guns in that you can wear them and they appreciate in value. Some of my better timepieces are worth 5-8x what I paid for them and best of all....no one even recognizes them.

Nice. Can't complain about that ROI.

I wouldn't mind something from Breitling... maybe one of these. $18K for that bad-boy

The Aviator series is kinda nice too.

There are way better watches for that kind of money. I have owned Breitling Navitimers....they are horrendously unreliable.

Oh wow! Honestly I'm highly uneducated when it comes to watches. I thought Breitling was "the shit" when it came to "ruggedized" luxury.

Not purchasing anything like that anytime soon... I paid EuroOptic $14.5K today for the Remington MSR MK21 and TT525P-H59.

Yowsir! I love EuroOptic. I bought my AI AT and all of my tier one optics from them - Great service and great prices. I just bought an RRS tripod setup but not from them since they don't carry RRS which is crazy weird to me since they carry everything else. First big purchase I've had in firearms for a while. I buy ammo and spare parts now.

Breitling spends a ton on marketing themselves as "rugged" but they can't hang when it comes to their mechanical timepieces. Their electronic watches are reliable but I can't see spending large coin on a quartz movement that anyone can build. The cost of the timepiece is representative of the craftsmanship that goes into it.

If you ever want to spend some money on a timepiece, let me know.

Roger that. I will absolutely keep that in mind if I'm in the market (or need advice).

is that a grenade launcher on that plastigun

No...it is a rare flashlight/VIS/IR laser that HK built for it. That and the mount is worth more than the gun....funny thing is that i paid $400 for the laser setup at a place in Pendleton, CA that made nylon for 1st Force Recon. They were given one by the Marines so they could make them a holster. Never picked it up. The guy was thrilled to get $400 for it. I said are you sure??? He said $400 and you can take it with your holster....HAHAHAHA

I want a Tag-Huer but I’m stuck on a Casio budget....
You and me both brother. I do have a nice Citizen Pro Diver, but my everyday is a titanium band Casio Pathfinder. And quite frankly, I use the additional features constantly on it too.

Side note, got'er done last Thursday, test was easy. Thanks for the assist even if it didn't come through.

How does that pathfinder hold up to abuse? I'd really like a watch that can go through some shit without falling apart and that I can see in the dark.

This Guess Waterpro from the mid nineties I still wear has been great, but it doesn't have any lights.

If I got another I'd probably take a few links out of this one and give it to my son. His wrist is about wide enough for it now.

Yep, got them all except hazmat because I don’t want to be the battery hauling bitch.

I beat the hell out of it. Current iteration has been on my wrist 23.5 hours a day since mid 2014, it’s predecessor since 2008, that was just an upgrade and I sold the old one for $1 to an employee who still wears it today. PAW-2000T is my current one. Its been through an IED, tens of thousands of rounds including a ton of .338 and .50, 23k ft unpressurized altitude, lap swimming for 2 hours four times a week for two years as well as a fair bit of beach time, and now I work for the railroad where it sees a ton of manual labor time including hammer drilling and sledge hammering. It has a couple very minor scratches in the crystal in all that, tried to highlight them in the pic below and I never notice them unless I look for them, original solar battery still doesn’t flinch, and the sensors are pretty accurate considering the tech. The barometer still matches my Kestrel and hasn’t been further off than a rounding error with 0.05” accuracy, newer models are 0.01”.

Can’t say enough good things about it, and highly recommend.
