Any tips on dealing with the over pressure/concussion from large cartridges like .50 bmg? The recoil is minimal but the muzzle blast makes it hard to maintain sight picture/etc. Maybe I just need more practice?

Easiest way is to run suppressor but then your recoil will increase slightly.

Yes. But $$$$ though. And wait times. And making an adjustable gas block.
Enough money in this rig that won't be shot too much.

You could always build a blast shield which would put you on one side and muzzle brake on other side of shield.

Keep your mouth open when shooting your 50 to reduce muzzle blast headaches. I have a serbu bolt gun in 50bmg
I read not to open your mouth lol. Guy said it made his teeth hurt.
will try the helmet. Plugs in addition to muffs didn't seem to make a difference.

What you need is a dedicated suppressor like the new Barrett one that is a suppressor and then has a muzzle brake at the end of it.
No I really feel your pain. 50s are on a other level, the best thing can do is wear double ear pro and get the longest barrel possible. 240 gr of powder makes a lot of noise.
When I take my 50bmg out at my local range, usually after the first shot or 2 everyone on the firing line decides to pack up and leave. The muzzle blast/concussion is substantial.
