My buddy called me from a Walmart tonight saying he saw a guy that used to be on our team! Last I heard he was moving back to CA to be a CHIP. That was in 2004! My buddy said it looked like him but didn't want to walk up and look like an ass if he wasn't. I told him to quit worrying about that shit and just say he looks awful familiar and go from there.

He did, dude said he was thinking the same thing and no shit, he moved back up here and is now a WA highway patrol. We were all best friends in the army, we went out together all the time, always had each other's backs. True brothers. I don't have a lot of friends nearby so to get back one back I know I can trust means a lot to me. We were all very close, about as close as a group of men can be without whipping out the dicks!

They traded numbers and we'll get together soon. Turns out that for the last THIRTEEN YEARS he's been living within a handful of miles between the both of us.

Anybody else like that? Not see a really good friend for a long time, fell out of contact, then just turns back up like that, same place, same time? I figured I'd never see him again.

I ran into a buddy I haven't seen in twenty five years Sunday at the range . We grew up in the same neighborhood and hung out in our teens and early twenties . His buddy shooting with him kept pokin his head over watchin what I was doing . Zo at one point I loaded up a mag for my AR and pointed at him and motioned to the gun .
Hell yeah . My buddy pokes his head over and I asked him if he was his older brother . Nope my bud . We laughed exchanged numbers and caught up a little . Solid guy always had a smile and your back . His brother totally differnet story . Nearly got me shot once and nearly arrested another time . Made a great range trip even better . Funny how when you get older and come across a long lost buddy how intense the good memories come rushing back in . And happy for ya Stykervet . Friends are a precious rare element especially when one gets caught up in life , wife and kids .

All jokes aside, this is great stuff.
I have a handful of really great friends. The guys I had to schedule for moving help when I got divorced. Same guys who would show up with steaks and a 6 pack to hang when they knew my daughter was with her mom and it was and is pure hell for me to be without my kiddo.
True friends are a blessing a lot of people never know. They cant be beat for any kind of fun and having your back in the thick of it.
With all you been through the last year, glad you “found” one of your tight old buddies.

I’ve been in constant contact with my military brothers (the ones I care to keep in contact with) for more than twenty years. I go to the reunions, and pretty much know what’s going on with all of them. I’ve buried a few as well. I can’t imagine not staying in touch with any of those guys even though none of them live within 800 miles of me.
