Police say Robert Thompson, 40, entered the convenience store with a handgun and ordered the clerk to get on the floor while he emptied the register. A customer then entered the store and Thompson allegedly secured them both with duct tape.
Before leaving, Thompson allegedly poured lighter fluid on the pair and set the customer on fire.
The customer suffered burns and was taken to a local hospital before being transferred to a Dallas medical center for treatment.

Wow. Assault charge and robbery charge, what the hell constitutes attempted murder if lighting a mother fucker on fire doesn't? I'm sure it's just assault because he was just starting to turn his life around....

Also, "hate crimes" are compete bullshit. I've never heard of a time where someone committed a violent crime because they liked the person. If they were even attempting to dissuade violent crime they would start using violent punishment for violent crimes. We know how that goes though.

The whole 'hate crimes' tag has been overused and overblown. It is more of a SJW phenomenon than it is practical.

Violent crimes should be addressed as they are, and dealt with according to the level of severity. The guy in this case, has just turned an armed robbery into two attempted murders with his final act. So hit him with these multiple charges and ensure that he WILL be spending the rest of his miserable little life as a 2-slot penis pleasurer in a place constantly permeated with fluorescent lighting and smelling of shit and floor cleaner..................Or just shoot his dumbass, if you want to save taxpayers' money.

The level of favoritism is absolutely absurd. The multiple tier justice system is not just civilians versus .gov, certain groups of people happen to be more 'equal' than others. But of course, the left is all about tolerance and acceptance of everybody, right?
