If I lay down, my fever spikes to 102.7, If I stand up it goes down to 99.5 but then my nose runs.

What pills do I need. Doc gave me acetiminin 500 g 3 times a day.and told me to take zrytec

Uh. Do that and hydrate with plenty of water.

The zyrtec wont do crap for a virus. Its for allergies. Your dr might be a retard.

If you are too stuffy to sleep, take benadryl to dry you up.
Or nyquil.
Or both and some whiskey.....

You can alternate tylenol and Motrin.

Wicked virus going around with those symptoms.

Or you have kaposi’s sarcoma.

Good luck

Hydrate yourself, and please dont take 500g acetaminophen TID, 500-1000mg every 6 hours is what you want. You can get some pseudophed to dry up the runny nose as long as you don't have high blood pressure.

Holy what the fuck!!
I just read that to Alexander, my 12 yr old stepson.
I asked him who it sounds like and he said "dad".
Yep, his biological father is a "doctor", and he seems to think Zyrtec is a cure all for everything.

I'm not a doctor, nor do I play one on the TV, but Lawd have mercy, I know Zyrtec ain't gonna do shit.

You're not from the Tampa Bay area, are you?

In your case, I'd probably go with the Google answer...

6 whole cloves
2 large cinnamon sticks
juice from one half lemon
one giant teaspoon of honey
4 ounces of rum, whiskey, brandy or similar booze
10-12 ounces of boiling water

Put all the ingredients in the bottom of a large mug stir while pouring the boiling water into the mug. Inhale the vapors while you wait for it to cool off enough to drink. Drink it while it is still very hot. Then take a nap. If nothing else, the water, booze and nap will help you feel better. The hot vapors seem too help loosen mucus and open sinuses a bit too. Or maybe it is just an excuse for a good drink that allows those around you to think you are just "taking your cold medicine".

We diagnosed my daughters Type 1 diabetes from the internet.

She had just been for her 5 year physical and my wife mentioned to the pediatrician excessive water intake and bed wetting after being potty trained.

Pediatrician said "Dont worry about it".

Google said Type 1 diabetes.

The blood test confirmed Google right.

We have a new kid doctor.

Nettie pot twice a day. Drink water. Sounds like sinus infection. Keep taking the Tylenol. Fever doesn’t subside after a couple days you need antibiotics. Nettie pot works wonders on sinus issues

Nettie Pots strike me as good path to deadly brain infection unless single use with sterile wash.

Fever is a good thing... the body heats itself up to create a hostile environment for the flu/cold virus.

Agree - Nettie pot works wonders on sinus issues

Disagree - Fever doesn’t subside after a couple days you need antibiotics.
You need antibiotics if your have a bacterial infection.......

Some say the flu shot helps to reduce symptoms/ severity when you do get sick....

Big Pharma wants to sell you anti Virals..... Radio is full on Tam a flu ads

A lot of positives on Influenza A, and it going around pretty hard right now in this NW. area . I been avoiding any big crowds ( No walmarts and kids ) and washing hands after going to any retail stores . So far been pretty lucky .

Yes be clean. I sterilize mine before each use otherwise it would be like wiping your ass with used toilet paper. Who would do that?

I was just talking with Rebecca about an issue Alexander is having.
For fun, I suggested having his dad look at it.
Rebecca said "That won't happen. His father is a fucking idiot."

So that's what the "I got Chapstik on both ear lobes, I'm smiling so hard right now." is all about, huh ?

Hell, I'd be laughing too.....:sneaky:(y)(y)(y)

Hadn't thought about that applying to anything, but it seems to in this situation.

I never see that quote because I use my phone and it only shows up in landscape mode.

Bennie Spies is a fella from South Dakota that has a cool hunting/fishing program.
He would fit right in here on the Hide.

@Mike Casselton

I know of a lot of drs who are conplete morons and just try to use the basic OTC meds that arent even for the symptoms they are trying to tell the patient to take them for.

I always go for hydration, apap, and ibuprofen. If really feeling it, high dose vitamin c can help (need a lot, not 1000 mg 2x a day) and other supportive therapies.

Prescriptions really only come for me once I know I have a sinus infection and then its a round of Augmentin.
I am prone to them and have used a Nettie pot a lot in the past 8-9 yrs and have only had 2. Used to get 1-2 a year.
Use previously boiled or distilled water. Wash device with soap and water.

I take Zyrtec for allergies. It's not a "take this pill for a little while" kind of drug.
It has to get established in your system for more than a week. It is worthless for a cold/flu.
If you have a cough: cognac or grand Marnier.

I have had many many sinus infections, and been plagued with bronchitis and pneumonia over the many years. I had pneumonia as a baby and it nearly killed me, scarred bronchial tubes.
If your sinuses are plugged, and you have a fever, you likely have a sinus infection...unfortunately, you need an antibiotic and sooner rather than later. Sinus infections can quickly involve the lungs and then you will have bronchitis or pneumonia. If you have sinus infection, the discharge(blow your nose) will be greenish, yellow, possibly bloody as well.
Clear discharge is probably viral.

Neti pots work great but be damn careful. Been a life saver for me. Never put plain water up your nose, it must be a proper saline solution and STERILE! Don't just wash your neti pot, sterilize it with boiling water.

Fever?
Try to keep it below 102. Feverfew and yarrow work wonders, way better than Tylenol. Yarrow has thujone in it and may give you a nasty headache, but it will break a fever.
If my fever can be kept below 102, I'll wrap up in blankets and let it burn that shit out, that's what your body is doing. It's burning the bug's house down.

I'm not a doctor, simply a mountain man in the vein of granny Clampett. I have taken a hepacritter oath.
