Carbon fiber cleaning rods seem very nice but come at a hefty price over here, about 2x of what you guys are paying. So I am wondering if a rod made for .22-.26 will be strong enough to use on .30, or are they too brittle/soft? Have no idea how strong a CF rod is, just know that "standard" crappy rods can go from .22 to .45 in the same rod, so figured I should ask before I take up another mortgage to buy two rods :p

I do it.

I might not make my patches as tight in the barrel as I would with a larger rod but, hey, chemicals and brushes do the work, the patch is just there to wipe it away.

I use Tipton .22-.26 rods for all of my cleaning (save .20, for obvious reasons).

FWIW, my largest bores are .338.

This is the one I ended up ordering, found the .22-.26 at half off. The .30 was full price so easy choice. Only downside is now I need to get new jags and brushes because the threads are different from the flimsy Kleenbore kit rods:sneaky:
