New member here, looking for some advice. I recently converted my 700 .308 ADL to a BDL with bottom metal that I was able to take from a friend doing a build and am in search of a relatively inexpensive stock. The rifle is .308, but also has the 24" "Sporter/Hunter" contour barrel, and I am having a bit of trouble finding stocks that match that contour. For reference, I tried a Hogue Overmolded stock for the standard barrel, and was left with an excessive free float of the barrel. Any advice is appreciated

No such thing as excessive float, just excess aesthetics. I would rather have lots and lots of room than barely or not enough.

If youre wanting to do it as cheap as possible I would go with a boyds wood stock. It should look correct with your thin barrel hunting rifle. I would bed it myself personally, its easy to do and can be done cheap if motivated.

If a bit more than I would recomend the magul hunter as sugested above for 226 bucks on amazon right now. Should accept the factory bottom metal. Or you could upgrade to a drop box mag for another 70 bucks on that so 300 all in for that.

A bit more money at the 400 dollar level is into the KRG bravo or MDT oryx territory for a true chassis stock.
