Update:

I spent some quality time with the R700 and three boxes of different match grade ammunition this weekend. Best group I got was just under 1.5".

Stripped the barreled action out of the chassis last night and remounted it in the factory stock with the factory trigger.

Ordered a Defiance Tenacity today. Will be ordering a remage barrel for it this week.

Final decision points were:

• Current investment in trigger and stock made Tikka less economical than they are normally.
• Extreme frustration with current action/barrel make me unwilling to waste more of my time on the upgrade path.
• Selected the Tenacity based on availability. Growing up near Columbia Falls, I have wanted a Defiance for years.

I think either the Nucleus or Origin would have been excellent also.
