The people that will enforce this are as much the issue as the asshole who thought it up in the first place. Every LEO I know will never say "just doing my job" B/S. However every fucking COP I have encountered says they will come to my door, an that is their choice an decision they will make on their own. Luckly for me I live in Free America, however many of us across this land take American freedom serious not just in lip service, as many of us have had to bleed before to keep it that way. Banning 80%s isn't as easy as some would have you believe. Unless the ATF writes a new regulation saying x% constitutes a firearm, or x% constitutes some new class of component, the states can go pound sand. The thing about 80%'s is that that is the number that determines what is a firearm, and what's just a chunk of plastic/metal. Basically a state is going to have to write a new law that changes what a firearm is, or they're going to have create a new class of controlled components, and in both cases they're going to be facing an uphill legal battle.
The more likely scenario is that they write new laws about who can "manufacture" firearms, but that can't stop people from selling 80% receivers, because those are just a piece of material.

If knife laws are anything like gun laws, a state doesn't have to accept ATF or even common sense definitions of guns. For example NY's gravity knife and assisted opener laws.
They should have to accept the definition because in a country with a protected right to keep and bear arms, restrictions on not arms shouldn't be allowed.
Unfortunately, I think we need legislation (not likely) or a supreme Court case to make that happen.

Were these guns taken into possession along with another crime - ie drug dealing.
They way its presented it makes it seem someone showed up at the range with his fresh made 80 percent gun.
Im thinking what we have here is there was some sort of gang/drug related crime and it was found they had 80 percent rifles.
Well instead of beating on the law abiding citizen just beat on the criminals with the laws that are on the books.
Perhaps these guys were in the process of breaking other laws and no law even a ban on 80 percent guns was going to matter because breaking the law is what they do.
