Who would a thunk?

Minority report catching up to real life.

Apparently idiots think that their customers like being harassed and having ads flashed at them all the time?

Stupid people that pay for this will probably find they actually sell less than they did before as people start tuning them out and refusing to go there / look at ads.

I've seen lots of gas station TV screens that were painted over around here. Could become a nationwide trend, I guess.

yeah, and this has NOTHING AT ALL to do with the advent and advancement in "facial recognition" throughout the land. No "privacy" to be expected when you walk into a public store, either. Right?

They'll find all kinds of ways to 'get you'.

It's almost like...you know...some day invthe future....like if you didn't have a certain "mark" or "implant" you couldn't even go into a store at all.....

Gonna go commando and leave the front door open .
And if you're over 60 you can get away with it!

Nothing makes me want to leave the pump faster while my truck is in the middle of being fueled than some fucking ad playing at 110db at the pump. Fuck them and the fuel spill I leave behind because their auto shutoff didn't work.

As someone who have worked / managed retail for a number of years, I can assure you that shit like this WILL be a complete failure and loss of profits in the long run.

98% of customers who enter an establishment already have in mind what they want to purchase or the similar items that they need. They are also well versed in the latest trending brands from being bombarded with ads on the media and Internet and word of mouth from family and friends. I, for one, shop in a similar fashion. I got a game plan already and that is getting whatever I need, pay for my items, and bounce.

The last thing I want is to be slowed down by someone pushing a menagerie of shit onto me. Usually, my initial reply to such an attempt would be: "Thanks, but I am not interested / don't have enough" / something along these lines. If I keep getting hassled, I may just leave the place and get my stuff somewhere else.

This is how a majority of people shop. That is why as a retail manager, I never 'pushed' my staff to 'upsell' or aggressively flaunt merchandise. My advice to them is always be natural and help the guests find solutions to their issues. If we don't have something they want, casually suggest something similar that serves the same purpose.

People are results / rewards motivated at the end of the day. If you give them what they need, they are happy. Blowing colored and perfumed smoke at them will only annoy them. I know I am like that, and most of the people I know are the same way.

I really wonder how those college level retail and advertising "specialists" come up with 80% of the shit that they come up with. *Shakes head*
