Okay so I am figuring out what I want for my first big boy prs gun and would appreciate input from those more learned than I.
Chasis: MDT ESS with Folding stock. Was thinking of an AIAX but I think I get move value out of the MDT.
Action: Impact Precision short action.
Barrel: Broughton 22" chambered in 6.5CM and another chambered in 6mm CM.
Muzzle brake: Area 419 Sidewinder
Trigger: Triggertech diamond
Bipod: Atals and Ckye Pod (have them laying around)
Optic: Schmidt Bender PM2 3-27
Mount: Sphur.

Any input on this is appreciated.

Build list looks good

If you like the feel of a chassis I would go with the MDT ACC over the ESS for the weight tuning ability if you are building this for prs matches. I would recommend handling one if you haven't already though some people can't warm up to the feel of a chassis.

I would go with a longer barrel, most common length is 26". Unless you have a need for a short barrel

I would also go with a Bartlein, Krieger, Hawk Hill barrel over a Broughton barrel

Have you put any thought into what bullet you want to shoot and what barrel contour and twist?

Sounds good I'll look into the ACC.

As to the bullet, I'm not reloading yet so I'll mostly be going with factory Hornady ELDM 140gr or 130gr Prime once they get their supply flowing again. Bartlein is also on the list of potential barrels so I have more to look into there.

With contour all I know is I want a heavier contour barrel. I am not very spun up on them all I know is heavier the better. Twist will be a 1:8.

Bartlein is an excellent choice they are my first choice but I would use any of the ones I mentioned. I would recommend calling Stuteville Precision if you don't have your action already Wade might have a barreled action or Impact Precision might have a barreled action on the shelf as well.

I would go with a M24 or Heavy Palma contour 1-8 twist will work great

Sounds like you are ready to go hope you have fun with it when its all done

Who are you going to have build this for you?

Good call on talking to Stuteville, I'll make sure I do this. As to the builder haven't really thought of it. There are some competent gun smiths up here in MN. But in all honesty if I can I am going to get the barreled action pre-assembled so all I have to do is drop it in the chassis.

In that case, definitely recommend talking to Wade and Tate, you can get the impact action with a Stuteville finished Bartlein barrel with the TT Diamond mounted and tuned. Drop it in your chassis, torque to spec and go break it in.

One more thing this time regarding the mount. What are some other good options apart from Sphur? I have been eying the american rifle company unmount but lately I have been going away from anything QD.

I'll have a look at them. I do want to stay on the unimount side of the house. I have heard good things about MPA. Not really a cost issue but just wondering if Sphur offers something the others don't apart from the level. But I'm not sure how I feel about that. I think to a certain point there is such a thing as too many levels.

Nightforce has a unimount with 20 MOA and excellent construction. No level :)
