I got it a couple months ago and am taking it out next weekend to set my zero stop. Before I burn more ammo than needed experimenting with tuning the muzzle brake, does removal of any of the 4 port plugs on top make a noticeable difference?

A friend of mine just got one and we shot it a couple of weeks ago. Burris F class 8-40 (I think). He removed all 4 of the brake plugs before we shot. Recoil (in my/his opinion) was about the same or less than our 6.5 CM's. 2 shots at 100yds, close enough on target we moved out to 300. Hornady 285 HP's. He shot a 2 1/4" group and I pissed him off and shot a 2" group. Moved out to 635 on the steel, then on to 800. Easily hit both. This thing shot great. Our opinion was the same....why tune when it shoots this good with all 4 plugs out?? He put the plugs away when he got home and doesn't intend on putting them in to even try anything different. Older I get the more recoil sensitive I'm getting and this thing is a real joy to shoot. Bad thing is, now I want one too! If (when) I get one, the first thing I'm doing is pulling all 4 plugs and never looking back.

Thanks for the info. I’m running a Vortex Viper 5-25x50 PST Gen II and Hornady 250gr match. Should be a blast. Glad I’m getting back into long range shooting

I've got the same rig. I left them in for the first session, then removed them. I got a little less muzzle rise with those ports open but not a whole lot. Recoil felt about the same. I'll be leaving them open. That brake tames the recoil a lot. It's downright pleasant to shoot.
