8.5x42 swaro El for PRS?

For PRS alone I'd say you'd be better served with higher power binos. The 8.5's would do fine for a quite glance downrange if you wanted to see target locations and get a lay of the land. If you plan on putting them on a tripod and spending more time spotting while others shoot the 8.5's are a bit less magnification than ideal. Stellar binos for handheld use and general purpose or hunting, though.

If they are truly only 6 years old and are the Swarovision model (green body armor in between the hinge) then $1k is an AMAZING price and I would buy them in a heartbeat. If they are older with the large black plastic area in between the hinge then $1k is a pretty decent deal. In that situation I"d buy them only if you wanted them for general purposes beyond PRS and planned on mainly hand holding them.

Never heard back from the seller of el's. Got a good deal on new 15x56 slc hd for 1500$ with tripod adapter. On the way in the mail, wonder if I will miss my atx 25-60, but these will be more usable allround I figure...

I use some 8x Leica's for PRS/NRL matches and never really have a problem making spots on target out to say 800 yards. Wide FOV is great for trying to cover targets spread across terrain. 10x would probably be better but I don't really feel held back all that much with my 8x's.

I looked at the SLC and EL's as well as the Zeiss lineup over the weekend and thought the Zeiss Conquest was brighter than the SLC but the EL's were the best overall bino. You won't go wrong with the SLC though.
