I cut my barrel from last year in half at work just figured I’d share always wanted to see one in person
I bought it used with an action so I can’t be 100% sure of the rd count or who made the blank but i was told it was cut rifled and I put at least 2800 rds (all factory ammo mostly 140eld and a few federal/berger 130s) through it and was told it had 800 on it when I got it and I have no reason think that info isn’t accurate

I butchered the cut obviously but it was done with a portable band saw and took 2 blades to get through so I had to come at it from the other end
Hard to tell but the rifiling is almost non existent for the first few inches and the barrel still shot a consistent 3/4”-1”@100yds with factory ammo when I retired it

very cool to see, thanks for sharing. did you by chance capture any data such as es/sd through out the life of the barrel? Who made barrel?

Unfortunately most of last year I didn’t own a chrono yet so I don’t know how much it slowed down or anything like that I finally pulled it when I had to add a .1mil to my 1,000 yard data every time I shot it but in hind sight it was getting down into the 30s in the northeast around that time too so the barrel may have still had sub moa life in it but I had no intentions of starting this season with a 3500rd tube
I will have to look back in my messages but I can’t recall who made the blank, only that the owner said it was cut rifled and chambered by Robert Gradous there are no markings on it at all not even caliber

Now you should put some different cleaners on different sections in the barrel and see which cleans it the best. take pics etc

I’m probably not the best person to do a “scientific “ evaluation like that where variables are controlled but I can put the stuff I have around the house on different areas and see what happens overnight and such
The other problem is I use either break free powder blast or c4 carbon cleaner alone mostly and hoppes no.9 once in a blue moon the only other stuff I have is some Lucas oil bore cleaner/ultrasonic cleaner and some clp I would like to see what Lemi-shine does to a bore but I’m pretty sure I already know because I put a sizing die in my ultrasonic cleaner with it once and it wasn’t pretty

What was the barrel cut with? Ive got a factory 12LRP 6.5 barrel with about 2000 rounds through it and I can't seem to give away. It might hit a cutting table if I have the right equipment.

This is interesting. Very unusual for Gradous to not put his signature and caliber on a barrel.

It very well may not be for all I know, I had about 100 questions for the guy I bought it from we spoke quite a bit even after I had it but he was thinking it was going to be an issue to send my ffl the barreled action because it was unmarked so I remember it came up
