Looking to have first competition rifle build chambered in one of the BR variants. (Undecided) Looking for suggestions on what is suggested for:

Br
Bra
Dasher

Also which gunsmith is know for being a wizard at chambering these rounds?

Seems like there aren't any complaints with any of them, well except for feeding, and that can be sorted out with a little patience and mag lip bending.

I went with 6mmBR because it was easy. I might or might not do 6mmBRA someday??? For now I'm happy. Last informal match I went to 1st was using a 6mmBR and 4th was too and there were at least two Dashers there.

I shoot BRA and Dasher, both are good. BRA is easier to fireform, Dasher gives about 50fps more velocity at equal pressure. 6BR is probably 50 fps slower than 6BRA. Rough velocity could be considered 2850/2900/2950 between the three, all else equal. All will shoot very small groups. All can be made to feed well. You give up energy on target, go transonic sooner, and have more wind drift with the straight BR. Straight BR is the easiest for brass though...

Any competent gunsmith with a good no-turn reamer should be able to chamber you a gun. No magic wizardry needed.

Easily use regular br brass and dies. Right there with the Dasher speed wise.

Did I mention easy brass?

My dad's built 3, 1 BR, 2 X's. I have an X. 3/4 are pre-fits, Savage and remage. Criterion, McGowan, and x-caliber, all 1/4 moa with quick load development. Last one is a benchmark on a 788 a local Smith did. It's also shooting 1/4 moa.

Keystone accuracy spins up a hell of a 6br. Shot a .25moa 5 shot group at 600yds no load development at 35rd down the barrel with Hornady 105 BTHP.

Been looking hard at them for my next prefits, so seeing this makes me feel good! How is turn around time? Did you go with the buttoned or cut rifled blank?

Turn around time is usually under 2 weeks. I’ve gotten all my barrels under 1 week just by luck. Johns barrels flat out shoot and he’ll take care of you. Call and talk to him. He’s a good dude.

I really like his Kreiger barrels. They flat out shoot

+1 for the brx
