Finally picked up a Swaro STR 80 MRAD. I have wanted a nice spotter for years.

I have been watching some videos on how to use, features, etc. One issue most people agree on is the lack of a bubble level on the system. This would help ensure your reticle is level when spotting for other shooters.

I will be using this on a RRS Anvil 30 (level in base). I assume I can make that work somehow.

Anyone else have some good ideas? How are you leveling your reticle in a spotter?

i have a str 80 also great spotter, im in the market for a new tripod for it. let me know how you like the rrs and anvil for it im very interested. i was thinking a geared head. one way you can level it is to use a level when putting up the target and index on it. if shooting at steel on a range thats already up and not level i just eyeballed it no help their.

Attach a thin ferrous metal--magnetizable--sheet/strip/band between the quick detachable (usually Manfrotto or Swiss Arca) and the scope's tripod screw. Works great using magnetic levels and especially the electronic variety like the Wixey shown (attached).

The rig in this picture is over kill. A level panning base and scope level is all that is required. I like to use the ball head to position the horizontal stadia through the target’s horizontal center line. Then pan the vertical stadia to align with the impact. Now the corrections can be directly read.

Quickshot,

What piccatinny base did you find to fit the top of the STR scope? I saw that Swarovski makes one, but the price was very expensive. Did you find another option? Thank you for your help.

That is the Swarovski base; with a KAC level on it.
The bases are expensive because the kit includes two rails and screws. The top one has a sight cut into it. The side rail doesn’t.
