Considering one in a 300 win. I have my smaller guns covered and want to step up on the horsepower some. Couple days f questions;

What’s an average barrel life on a 300?

When I do burn it out, can a remage barrel be put on it, if a guy is handy like that?

Target barrels that are shot hot may get 1000-1500 rounds of usable barrel life.

Hunting guns that are not shot hot and pampered may get 1800-2200 rounds.

All of this depends too on what weight bullets you’ll be shooting.

I’m aware that a 308/30 06 for sure do. So a 1500 round barrel life is about what can be expected. Can a Remage barrel be installed?

Yes and barrels are usually quite a bit cheaper than the ammo to burn them out.

Figure 80 cents a round. 1500 rounds would be $1200. A new barrel installed by myself will probably run $600. That’s a lick. Oh well, it’s s big gun.
