Baited hook tossed at Iran?

When I was invited to the commissioning of the LHD-7 USS Iwo Jima, the crew was referring to her as a "Shake and Bake Invasion".

The USS Boxer LHD-4 was built before the design mod (raised hanger deck height) that debuted with the Iwo. It's raised to accommodate the V-22 Osprey.

Amtracs, LCACs, Harriers (F-35's?), Cobras, and a MEU. When the LHD's deploy, it's not sabre rattling, it's the real deal.

Not a worm, it's a U.S. can of whoop ass. :) Hey Iran where is your p-38?...

My guess is the big kid on the block with the biggest stick is now just waiting... waiting on someone in Iran to give us that reason...

Can of Captain Insain-O sized whoop-ass is primed, located, and ready. Sooner or later, Iran gun boats will approach the wrong ship, radar will lock on the wrong target, or another drone will act as a pawn. Sacrifice a pawn then unleash hell the likes Iran has never dreamt of...

the threat is not in DC,, it is DC and the 5 counties around it.

No existential threat from Iran.

At the risk of sounding like @ArmyJerry the threat is in DC.

Isolate all these tin pot dictators with economic sanctions and forget them.

If there is a nuclear problem Israel is ready o handle it. Let them earn their military aid.

Go to war with the coup plotters in CONUS.

Ground contact with Iran will be accompanied by indiscriminate chemical weapons release, on the ground, over our ships, and against all populations hostile to Iran. This will entail immense collateral damage. If the Iranian theocracy can't survive, it will undoubtedly and deliberately destroy as much of its own and hostile population as possible in the process, for spite; the theocracy has no love for the masses, only for their own distorted interpretation of the Koran. In their view, "religion of peace" only holds propaganda value.

All that "Non" weapons grade fissionable material may or may not be useful for fission weapons, but for dirty bombs, it's probably pretty useful. What does one think will happen to it if the theocracy clearly sees it's not going to be allowed to build nukes? Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, etc.; dirty bombs on the way, if not already in place via Republican Guard Sleeper agency. Do we really think we're immune to such?

NBC also includes Biological. No need for fear there, right?

Long past time to recognize that yes, there will be a price involved in confronting Iran with direct military employment. But the price will be higher, the longer we wait to neuter them decisively. That's the legacy Obama left.

Now, not later.

Yesterday..., last decade..., would have been better...

Again, that's the Obama legacy; NORKs, too.

Git 'er done...

I still think it's all about the money for our military industrial complex and the politicians that get kickbacks on it along with the generals that get to retire to very cushy "consulting" gigs.

Saudi is a much bigger global threat than Iran by way of the fanatical brand of Islam that they push out which makes the Iranian brand seem somewhat benign.

I think that it would be very possible to effect a covert regime change in Iran with minimal loss of life (outside the mullahs) if we actually wanted to do it that way. The major population centers would not have a big problem if the Military one day announced a "tragic accident" befell all the mullahs, but not to worry, the elected president is still around and oh we are now bestest friends with the USA and just wait to see all the goodies they are shipping over. (Let them take care of their own rural disgruntled fanatics as they do very effectively).

The cost would be way less than an actual war and would probably involve minimal loss of life.

The problem is our "friends" the Saudis won't allow our politicians to do that because they are egging us on to get rid of their rivals for them so they can take full global control of Islam and nobody can say otherwise. The folks in Israel might be a bit worried that without Iran as a threat, their 3 Billion yearly love gift from us might come to an end... not to mention our own military industrial complex that gets to turn that 3 billion into toys to ship back out.

Chemical warfare is very hard to carry out.

Let's not forget the vast numbers of Iranians living abroad that might feel the need to retaliate with vests and bombs in clubs, parks, and schools of western nations. A war with Iran will become their war with Islam.

Actually what we'll be is the folks caught in the middle of a thousand year old fight between two different branches of Islam.
Perhaps just let Iran and Saudi go at it and sit back with Israel and eat popcorn then decide what best to do with the eventual winner.

Actually, most Iranian people are decent people. They ain’t all crazies like you see on TV. Don’t believe everything you see on the news. What is fanatical and dangerous is those that are in power. In short, like us, the dangerous people are those in government, much like our own.

Didn't mean to imply that they were. Not really concerned about most Iranian people, just the few that might react in a barbarous manner. I'd have the some concern if we were flirting with war with many other nations.

I am okay imprisioning every goddam Persian before deportation if they cant police their new community in my country.. enough with the virtue signaling bullshit.
