Did anyone have their barreled action including bolt DLC coated? If so, did it make a difference in results? How much did it run ? Most of all what shop did you use? All pertinent info and shared experience will be greatly appreciated.

I have a barreled action and bolt getting DLC'd as we speak. It's with Chad at Club Custom Guns http://www.jabuie.com/ionbond.html Once I receive it back I can give a review but Chad has been very responsive and helpful answering any and all questions. Pricing is on their website.

Thanks, I'd be very interested to hear your review about your results, and how the action turned out with the DLC once you get it back and have had time to shoot it. Would be great to see the end product in pictures if you are willing to show it off.

What kind of did you choose? Matte, satin, or polished?

I have a few actions that were DLC'ed by the manufacturer, and I really like them (Defiance and Mausingfield). Feel slick as hell and the coating has been holding up well.

I see zero reason to coat a barrel in DLC, good way to waste money on a consumable.
Normally I would agree with you, but after comparing the price list with $460 for the complete bolt action rifle, and $360 for the complete bolt action rifle action only without barrel or bottom metal I would go with getting a unified look including the bottom metal and having the barrel as a bonus for just $100 more. Come rebarrel time though a cerakote might be close enough, although at $120 for the barrel only it is still very competitive with local cerakote prices where I live.

Exactly. Mine was also done by Defiance. Holding up well and I would do the same again next time. Very happy with it.

Fair enough, and that's ultimately your call. I personally would choose to put the $100 elsewhere, but again that's just me.

I also thinking cerakoting is a waste of money on barrels. I just leave my barrels polished stainless now.

    Best of luck.

I think the applicator for Defiance is IonBond, which appears to do excellent work based on what I've seen with my Defiance. I don't know who ARC uses.

I can see your point and if I intended to use it only in competition I would wholeheartedly agree but I do tend to also use my rifles in the field now and then and a polished stainless barrel does stick out more than a satin DLC would. It's just a difference of application, not opinion.

I would normally agree about wasting money on a barrel but mine was for a purpose built hunting rifle. I probably won't shoot that barrel out for 10+ years.

Have you received your stuff back yet? Thoughts on “smoothness/slickness” improvement? If not back yet, how long has it been? Thanks.
