Anyone see a dangerous pattern in this?

Assuming what you say is true, and the bank wants control to generate power.

Why do they want this power? What do you say they will use it for?

Well, that depends on what the folks that control the whole shit want to do.

Would you say that interstellar travel, immortality, and the ability to create something from nothing are important goals for the folks doing that type of shit? How large would you say the combined market of those three things is?

And while you think you are being smart, your banking overlords are laughing at you all the way to the bank.

Now if you wanted to actually break free.
Try talking to your suppliers and ask them to go actually find out their real effective credit card processing rates. Then suggest if you pay up front in cash / check, would they be willing to lower the cost by the amount of the fees they don't have to pay.
Big corporations probably won't care too much trouble for them, however a lot of more intelligent smaller business (like my LGS) will pass the up front savings on to you.

It's a hobby now a days, but back in the 60's 70's and 80's, how many tax free retirement plans were put into action?
The small business owners stuck together.

Well, if they do a better job than NASA, they have my vote...

I thought you meant they were up to no good.

All depends on perspective. Some folks think the ends justify the means. Unfortunately for people that like the ideas behind the foundations of the United States of America, that type of thinking is contrary to the interests of our banking overlords. They seem to be more interested in establishing a global government, a universal religion, and various other things that ensure all the people of the world are working as hard as they can to serve their masters. Some genocide may be required.

I haven't seen any evidence of either a global government or a universal religion. I'm retired, I don't work at all.

If their goal is to ensure that I work as long and hard as I can for their benefit, how was I allowed to get enough to retire before I was fifty?

I own a cash only business. No cards, no personal checks, only cash or money orders. This is the only way to "stick it to the banks." The banks are killing the country and are left unchecked. If Ron and Rand Paul had gotten any leverage on "audit the fed", they would have gotten Clintoned. No doubt.

I don't know how the AmeriYank banking system works, but up here in Canuckia we have "the Big Five" which is across the country (Royal, ScotiaBank, B. of Montreal, Can. Imp. B. of Commerce, and Toronto-Dominion) [which equals: Roy; SB; BM; CIBC; and TD). But in each province there are 'Credit Unions' which are independent and locally run.

I've learned the hard way, to NEVER deal with any of the big 5 again, and have only used Credit Unions for nearly 20 years. There's definitely benefits and reasons for doing this, AS WELL AS not supporting idiotic moves such as these. It was the 'firearm business' debacle though, where things REALLY should have kicked-off.

Financial institutions should not have the power or ability to legislate.

There used to be a shit ton of small banking options.

There was choice and no central control.

The risk was spread amongst a bunch of banks and consumers had the power to choose so banks offered services to entice customers to bank with them.

They actually used to pay interest and Im aware its more than just the local bank that determines interest rates.

Than Id see the sign on my bank change every year and a half over a period of 6 or so years and now all those once small banking institutions sport the name of one of the few big banks that have locked up the industry.

Less competition, no need to service the customer, the consumer has lost the power.

How old are you?
