I don't remember the part in American history where anyone advocated for punishing the children for parents crimes or for the military to have some sorry of supreme authority especially today's army where the bulk of your brigade commanders and above more than likely are tied to the Democratic party in some way.

I wish you weren’t right on this one, when I was in (2004+) I would routinely ask my fellow soldiers if ordered to take arms from Americans what would they do.. scary part was how many said “I don’t know, take em I guess”. Even back then they only wanted the young guys that would blindly follow orders. I’ve seen the same trends in Leo’s as well.

During WWII, my Wife's family had three Private soldiers in the Wehrmacht, an SS Oberst (Grand Uncle, Grandmother's Brother), and a 14 y/o in the Volkssturm.
The Oldest Wehrmacht Private was her Grandfather; he lived, but lost an eye. The Grandfather was originally assigned to Occupation Duty in France, but had run afoul of the Gestapo for uttering unpatriotic phrases, and was immediately sent to the Eastern Front. Prior to the War, he had been a machinist in the Schweinfurt Roller Bearing Works. My wife has photos he took in Russia, with horses pulling trucks out of the mud during the fighting retreat back into Germany.
The other two Wehrmacht Privates, his Sons, her Uncles, disappeared in Eastern Europe. Completely.
The SS Oberst abandoned his family, boarded a U-Boat in Italy, and supposedly disappeared in Argentina. Completely.
The 14 y/o Uncle in the Volkssturm was killed instantly when a British Incendiary Bomb he was clearing a few blocks from his/their home detonated in his arms.
Her Mother survived and married an American Soldier.
Surviving has a lot of meanings.
None of these people could stand the Nazis; but they were screwed right from the start, when the Reichstag burned. My Wife's Grandmother would tell me that I was a real Soldier. I could never actually figure out whether or not that really was a compliment. She had no special reason for loving this Country, and probably a lot of reasons not to; but she did, anyway.
War is even more of a Hell when you're on the losing side.
When we consider open conflict, losing is a real possibility. None of us have ever faced a war on our own Nation's soil. Win or lose; when it's over, we'd still have nowhere else to go.
We could get to be those Wolverines. Are you game? Those patrols you'd be dodging would be Americans.
We need to work this via the system. The alternative is outlined above.
