as the title states, is anyone actually using the 6.5 prc for a prs style comp like it was supposedly designed for?
is any one actually shooting 6.5 prc in competition.

i guess the real question im after is for the guys shooting the prc and if they regret their choice vs say sticking with a 6.5 cm for competition.
id like to order a new riffle in prc before the new year, end goal is to try out a few prs matches with it but ultimately it will be a long range hunter for me. i will have to sell my creedmoor to fund the new rifle and i dont want to regret selling it lol.

Beyond "Precision" being the P in PRC and Hornady's occasional match use comments, I think the insinuation that it would be good for PRS is entirely contrived by people on forums and Facebook that don't actually shoot PRS. More recoil and even shorter barrel life don't seem to be trending in PRS right now.

I personally have not seen the 6.5 prc being used in competition but have seen it being used for mountain sheep hunts.
Dtsmoto327 did you end up getting a 6.5 prc and if so do you like it? How does it compare to your 6.5 Creed specifically comparing recoil and barrel life?

Although I wasn't using it, I did see a few 6.5 PRCs at the Vortex Extreme Challenge this year. There were a handful of guys running their hunting setups, so I even noticed a 7SAUM and a team with 6.5-300 Weatherby's.
The real answer has already been identified. It’s no. Not at the top competitive end of the sport anyway. We have people using all sorts of calibers at PRS style events, even .338 a couple of times, but unless the format is slower and at longer distances, the disadvantages of more recoil and shorter barrel life outweigh the potential advantages of high BC heavy projectiles delivered at speed for most.

I shot 6.5 SAUM in PRS matches a few years back. The biggest reason for going back to .473" based cartridges was magazine capacity. Recoil wasn't that bad.
