These have been in the wild for a while now. Any long term reports on performance and durability? I have looked all over the net and havent really read anything bad about them but not a lot of talk about them either.

I have been watching used gen 2 razors, but i like the dot reticle in the etr better, it is around 10oz lighter and i can save $400-500. It dont hurt that i can get the etr in black as well.

Would i be crazy to pass on a used gen 2 and go for the new athlon and use the savings on a nice 1 piece mount?

Thanks

Love my ETR I picked up from Doug. If I had 1 complaint it would be my windage marks don't line up. They are about half way in between. Tracking is perfect on this optic.

Been running one almost weekly since its release. Not a single issue.. best budget scope on the market IMHO

I have read other threads you have replied to about the etr. I know you said you had a cronus. Is the cronus worth the extra money in your opinion?

Is the Ares etr truly a budget option, or is it a cost effective option that runs with the higher end scopes

I have both.

If you think you’ll be happy with the ETR, and from the sound of your responses you will be, then go that direction.

However, the Gen 2 is worth a couple extra weeks/months of saving to make up that price difference.

My ETR has been flawless, couple local PRS matches on a gas gun and many more range days. No issues to report.

I had to send my ETR back as it wasn't tracking when dialing. Athlon had a new one back to me in two days. That said, I ordered a GenII Razor with the new 7c reticle with a 50% of cert from a prize table. The parallax is a somewhat touchy on the ETR to me. Had a hard time seeing hits and misses at the last match I shot in when the sun was out and the mirage was bad.

On my Bushnell LRSTi, I can set the parallax at close to infinity and shoot a stage that has targets from 600 to 1000 yards and see hits and misses. With the ETR, I find if I set it for the first target, the last few are not as sharp. I see a lot of Gen II Razors at matches and most guys set the parallax at 500 and don't touch it the rest of the day.
