Received 200 cases of 6.5 PRC brass in 50 case boxes from Hornady.

Weight varied from less than 216 grains to over 220 out of 50 weighed or more than 2% weight variation. Most were either 117 to 118 or 118 to 119 about equally but five or six each under 117 and over 119.

I suppose I could weight sort the 200 but based on the first 50, I estimate I would have 20 below 117, 20 above 119, and 80 each within one grain of each other.

I would prefer four boxes of 50 each within less than one percent weight variation. Cannot do that with the Hornady brass I received.

So do I ignore the sloppy QC and press on or return the Hornady and buy better brass?

Who makes better quality brass? ADG does. Anyone else?

Just weight sort. I have over 700 pieces ,90% is in the 218-219 range.
The lot I received looks more like 80% within 217 to 219. 10% below 217 and 10% above 219.

Not sure this correlates exactly to case capacity or matters on the target, but I was hoping for better.

This plus the short case life typical with Hornady brass has me looking for better brass.

ADG, Petersen, Bertram?

ADG and Gunwerks brass is supposed to be the same. The ADG has tighter weight variation than Bertram. I doubt you'll see a difference on the target if you don't weight sort.
