Clean, clean, clean, clean!!!

This is why it's a good idea to clean when you're just a couple ounces over spec.

Once you're a pound over, it may take hundreds of solvent cycles to get the stuff out.

That like $20k worth of ammo components and barrels if he reloaded every round.

Thats a ton of shooting

What does the first blast baffle look like? Any significant erosion?

This whole story is just fucking awesome! I have an Ultra 7 and cannot imagine shooting that much in my entire lifetime. I think it's fantastic that someone shot 28k rounds of 6.5 cm. Then, just clean that f'er and it's good to go another 28k. Hell yes! I've very envious.

don't know what it looks like cause you cant see it at all. There is no available space inside this can. It's full from front to back. It looks like a fat barrel extension

I guess I should have weighed my Ultra7 when I got it. I only have 4 thousand rounds of 308 thru it now. Maybe I should take advantage of that free cleaning TBAC offers.

@TBACRAY have you ever tried tried soaking a can in citric acid? I've used the stuff to pull rust and millscale off steel extremely effectively. I wonder if it would work well here. I'd mix 1 cup of citric acid powder In a gallon of water and let it sit and see what happens.

Ever better is that the stuff is very safe to work with.

That was my thought as well, pretty studly shooting regimen given how long the Ultra 7s have been out.

TBAC, were you able to get all the gunk out, or is it pretty well done for if you let it get that bad?

so what is 5.5 inch tall (to soak a ultra 7). not to wide.. that you can fill CLR into that will get the job done?

i am thinking of cutting a spray bottle open. put the in the suppressor muzzle down, then slowly fill with CLR? how long should it soak ? other creative ideas?

CLR will damage stainless.

I use a plastic graduated cyl from online that a buddy hooked me up with . A Lays potato chip can is appropriately sized also .

The pressure washer part of the process is the magic ticket not just the soaking .

Never tried citric acid. I'll see of we can round some up
Amazon. You can get 10lbs pretty cheap. Stuff has all sorts of good uses. If you are gonna let it sit long term might want to change it out every 3-4 days. It is technically a food product so it will start to go bad if you let it sit a long time after you mix with water.

Edit- it will strip all the millscale and rust off a piece of steel in 4-6 hours so I can't imagine it would need to sit too long.

PVC pipe with appropriately sized caps creates a good chamber to clean suppressors with. Fill with your choice of carbon remover (I use BoreTech) and let it sit for a while. Once it’s had a chance to soak, I’ll put it in my FA stainless media tumbler - without the pins obviously - just water and lemi shine. Rinse and repeat as necessary. Works great.

It would be interesting to know what powder (if reloading) or what brand of factory ammo he primarily ran through there.

18k of Prime 130s and 10k reloads 42.3 H4350 140 hybrid match as per customer email

Wow, interesting. Thanks for that.

I reload exclusively and have about 5K down my Ultra-9. I alternate it between 260 Rem (H4350) and 300 WM (H4831SC) and the occasional 308 (Varget) though. Perhaps the 300 WM is cleaning it? First baffle and others still looks good, no cake. Haven’t weighed it though.

I put my 30P-1 in a vise with the threads up, plugged the other end with an earplug, and filled it with CLR. Left it for a week, added more CLR as needed, then rinsed in the sink. I tried the ultra sonic cleaned with RO water, but it started to damage the finish on the tube. Got over 3 oz of buildup out of it.

This may be a stupid question...
Does the CLR have any affect on the Cerakote finish?

I’ve used the stuff around the house for various things and that stuff can do some nasty stuff if it hits some materials. Was just curious if additional precautions are needed when cleaning a TBAC.

I think I’ll try method 2 first. I tried soaking a brake in a capped solution of bore cleaner and it noticeably discolored/lightened the finish. I’d be leary of soaking a TB can and possibly harming the finish.

CLR doesn't do anything to Ceracote but it will take off bluing and black oxide finishes for sure .

Yep I wipe my cb mounts almost every range trip.

Anyone used foaming cleaner? I have two bottles of wipe out I can try. Is there an approved method of using heat to dry up anything inside?

I did it with my 30p1 after talking with zac on the phone about having difficulty cleaning mine. Took many soaks but it came clean finally. I used the wipe out tactical carbon stuff.

Circulating the chosen solvent through the suppressor with a pump would probably get it out a lot quicker. It would continuously be removing the dissolved matter and exposing new carbon to the solvent. It could be put through a fuel filter or something to remove the debris before it's next trip through the can.

That is a lot of rounds. It reminds me of this article.

Has anyone tried Seafoam, or similar engine treatment as a suppressor soak? If so, how clean was the finished product?

I do not understand your data. What is Mil L, Mil R, SE. Are the numbers decibels?

Mil spec left side , mil spec right side , and shooters ear . It's where the sound meter was set up for testing and the numbers are decibels.

Pretty sure up above Zak posted it would take " months " to get this cleaned

Correction he said hundreds of cycles
