Load for 165 SSTs

Trying to find a load that will group decent for 308 using 165 SSTs and H4895. No luck so far. Gun is a Savage 10T. Shoots even cheap magtech sniper (168gr) 1/2 MOA but can’t get this combo to group better than .8/.9 so far. Gun is a 1/10” twist. Using CCI BR-2 primers. Also at a half grain under Hodgden max it’s chronoing about 100-150fps faster than their listed max. Tried loading .010 off the lands, tried loading to same CBTO as the magtech stuff, no luck so far.

About what charge and speed are you getting?

About 42.0 grains gives roughly 2600 FPS in a service rifle, but that is a gas gun.

At 43 I was getting around 2830/2840. It’s got a 24” heavy barrel

R u using Hodgdon data in Magtec brass?

Yea it’s just what I had lying around brass wise. So I took it down .5gr from max to be on the safe side. Tried loading off the lands, tried full resize, shoulder bump, match dimensions of unfired magtech ammo, etc

Magtech brass is real heavy and needs a 2 grain reduction from Hodgdon’s max.
