Is 6.5 Cred that much "dirtier" than 308?

For several years, I've shot a 24" Rem action 308 bolt with a SiCo Omega attached. I have close to 3k rounds through it. Most were FGGM though lately I was shooting the old Prime stuff. When done shooting, even after a multi-day training session (~250 rnds), I could detach the can and there would be almost no carbon build up or fouling on the muzzle device or in the can. It came off like there was butter on it.

Last week I moved the can to a brand new 6.5 cred, 26" barrel shooting Hornady 147 gr ELD Match for a 4 day class. Again ~260 rounds. Thinking the round was like a 308, I never checked the can until class was over. When the class was over, I couldn't get the can off without using a wrench. Upon removing the can, there was a SIGNIFICANT amount of carbon fouling on the muzzle device and inside the blast chamber of the can. It was caked on. Turns out I couldn't get the can off initially because the carbon had sealed the can and muzzle device together and it took the wrench to put enough torque on the locking mechanism to break the carbon seal.

Is 6.5 cred really that much dirtier of a cartridge than the 308? I'm going out for another ~280 rnd session soon and I'm thinking I'm going to have to clean the attachment point and the locking mechanism every day.

Thanks

I run a Q Cherry Bomb on a 6.5 bolt and 7.62x39 gasser with Q Thunder Chicken shared b/t them. Never have any issues of any kind with my can/mount and fouling thousands of rounds = runs like beast. 6.5 ammo is S&B and x39 is whatever the cheapest flavor of Mother Russia is on sale at the time.

Upgrade to the Keymo for your Omega and you shouldn't have to worry about carbon lock. Look at the Q Cherry Bomb stuff as well.

I am running KeyMo and yes it is much much better than SiCo's mounts. The Omega was stuck on the Keymo. The carbon was caked around the locking collar as well as on the bottom and top of the mount with the three vent holes. I had to take a peice of metal to scrap off the extra carbon from the muzzle device and I cleaned / scrapped the KeyMo for the first time ever.

I'm not familiar with Q cherry bomb but will look it up. Thanks.
