Maggie’s What God does with your money

At least they are given money willingly.
No different than any other celebrity. Folks pay money to be a part of things or to see the show.
Religion has always had big money and always will, just like almost every other big thing.

Typical muck raking journalists looking to throw shade on folks for a quick headline.
I don't know why fake news organizations need to have any money, they could all just work from home and not need big offices?

Now check at how rich your politicians get while on the job and their perks, those are not from funds willingly given but rather taken.

They have their reward. If they are playing loose with the storehouse, they will answer to a higher power than you or I.

God doesn't need your money. Rev. Ike used to tell folks that, I respected that; "Don't send your money to God, God don't need your money, he owns a thousand cattle on a thousand hills, send your money to me!"
At least he was honest.

I used to think Orel Roberts was a good man, until he told folks God was gonna bump him off unless he raised a million dollars.

Politicians steal money that they don't pay taxes on. Don't hear much about that.

The LOVE of money is the root of all evil.
Get it right.

yep

People mess up the love of God by hating folks based on the what they want to and try to use the Bible back it up.

Always ask a rich preacher how many poor folks they help?.....
Or if they ever have dinner with a junky, or something besides a blowjob from a hooker?

They get all pissed and walk off.

This is a good example of why I meet a lot of Christians that hate religion. Even Jesus threw the money changers out of his fathers house. He spent a lot of time criticizing the organized church.

I am quick to tell someone that I don't believe in religion.
You can find Jesus idea on religion in his discourse with the woman at the well. ".......ye worship ye know not what...."
"But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him."

Jesus hated false religion.

False religion is any doctrine that subverts the true meaning and intent of biblical teachings.

It can take the mild form of undue emphasis or negligence of a legitimate doctrine, or proceed right on up to heresy and blaspheme.

Jesus taught religion, He commanded us to assemble together for corporate worship. He commanded that worship to proceed in a decent and orderly manner.

Hatred of false religion does not justify abstaining from being involved in the local church.

For every rich TV preacher there are thousands trusting God to make ends meet.

Those guys don't need my help buying yachts, airplanes, and vacation homes.

I throw the money up in the air and God gets to keep what doesn't come down.

Well said @Skookum

In that, it took me a while to find my home church.

Recently we have focused on 1st Corinthians 13. About loving others like Jesus did.

Kinda thinkin a preacher in make-up on a Lear might see that different than I do.......

Lotta false BS. I despise it.

My brother serves as a deacon at a mid-sized church in SC. He told me of a pastor they once hired. Towards the end of the interview, he asked the pastor about salary. The pastor said, "My family and I will discuss this and pray for a few days and I'll decide. If I take the position, you can let me know what my salary will be."

You hear lots about the Roberts, Popoffs, Bakers, et al, but not so much about guys like this.

I know somethings about large evangelist organizations. My wife worked as the assistant to the president of one. They have a 25,000 member mailing list that they send flyers to twice a month pleading for funds to support their ministry.
They have twelve week long retreats that bring in thousands of people from all over the country. Offerings are asked for every night. The cash and checks are taken home by the president for safe keeping.
The next Monday he brings far fewer bags than he took home.
I noticed my wife wearing a new ring that I assumed was a cheap piece of costume jewelry. I asked her about it and she told me when they were counting the money from the offerings that it was very common to find rings, necklaces, bracelets. They then would divide the non cash items among themselves with the full knowledge of the president.
When we wamted to build a new house we decided to sell somethings that we no longer wanted.
That ring was valued at $8,000.00. I have many more stories like this one but you would not believe them. Copeland and his wife were at most of the meetings.

So they were firm believers in "Muzzle not the ox that treadeth out the corn", always a good policy to ensure happy workers.

They aren't going to have to worry about what to do with my money. I quit all of it long ago. Big church in town just built one of the nicest most expensive buildings in our town of 3000. Complete with a coffee shop, gym, daycare, smoke generators, stage lights, etc.

If you think it's big business here, just wait till you see how it's done in other European countries where the government collects right out of your paycheck along with the taxes and then gives it to the denomination you are registered as belonging to...

Almost as bad as the Southern Baptists habit around here of saying if you want to be a member of their church, each year you have to turn over your federal tax returns for a quick look so they can make sure you gave them that 10% (+extra of course).

One of my Mormon friends does however have his own way of handling the 10% tithe... he simply tithes 10% of what he has left after paying all the bills and household expenses.....

Been a member of several SB churches over the years. Never heard of that, but I've never visited around here.

i think it should be “preacher” always in quotes.

Refuse to ever listen to that guy. I dont care how good his message may be.

It isnt in love, except the love of money.

Hi,

In the words of Khabib....

Money in your hand does great things and allows many to be helped, Money in your heart does nobody any good.

I’ve been in SB churches for a long time and I’ve never heard of one doing that. There is a different denomination church close to me that does do that but not a SB one.

Also keep in mind that these churches are run by imperfect men. Some are just in it for the money and some are genuinely in it for people, but I don’t think this is fair to say that this is what God does with your money. Just my $0.02.

A bishop, a minister, and a televangelist are all discussing how much money they should give to charity.

The bishop says, "We should draw a circle on the ground, throw the money in the air, and whatever lands inside the circle is what we give to charity."

The minister shakes his head and says, "No, we should draw a circle on the ground, throw the money in the air, and whatever lands outside the circle, that's what we give to charity."

The televangelist thinks for a moment and breaks into a wide grin, saying, "No, no, I've got it. We'll just throw the money up in the air, and whatever God wants, He keeps."

“Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.”

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
