The other day I took my '68 VW baja bug for a ride, about 1/4 mile from home there was a pop and a sharp veer to the right... WTF. So I limped it 1/4 mile home and parked it. Initial inspection showed lots of wiggle in the front right wheel, I figured a bearing gave up... Tried rolling it backwards today and the wheel fell off lol... Thank ya Jeezus.
Spindle had a fatigue crack just below the threaded portion that... holds the wheel on. Finally had enough and let go. NO clue how the wheel stayed attached for me to take 4 turns over 300-400yd and park it.
