Christmas and annual bonus coming so time to splurge on myself.

I'm currently running an Ares ETR which I love everything about it. Parallax is a little finicky but the turrets, parallaxing down to 20 yards, and reticle is great.

I really like the floating dot reticle and want something similar.

For now I'm doing 3 rimfire matches a month out to 250 yards. I will eventually do PRS.

Is there something that is like the Ares ETR but just a lot better glass and eye box? 6x erector with floating dot and <=25 yard parallax?

    Price point 3000$

Ain't the newest or fanciest out there, but I'd say check out Schmidt & Bender PMII line. Great glass, proven track record, 25 meter or less focus and the MSR2 reticle might work for you, if your're cool with leaving the xmas tree reticle behind.

At work today (and everyday until 6pm PST) so I'm not sure your hours if you'll be open when I get home. Only can do web browsing as I'm in a shared space.

I completely understand, those are two excellent options and you'll find a ton of information on both scopes.
Let us know if we can assist you :)

Just a quick note, zco is a 25 *meter* parallax. Which is 27yds or so.

There is noticeable parallax error under 27yds in the few that I own/owned.

I haven’t contacted zco to see if they can tweak it down to error free at 20m. That might be a possibility.

It’s definitely not a dealbreaker by any means and my vudoo has zco on it. But, if there’s a target at <25yds, I definitely put a little extra effort into making sure I’m behind the optic perfectly. The very large picture and eyebox with a zco can allow you to be a little lazy on head placement.

Thanks, I just realized he asked about 20 yards in the original post :)

Don't feel bad, title says 25y but post says 20y

The Schmidt PM II 5-25x56 can focus to 10m and is a fantastic scope if you don't mind the tunneling and lack of a good Christmas tree reticle, they do have the new GR2ID reticle but with a hefty price premium. If you don't mind .5 mil hash reticles, there are some Gen II XR versions on the classifieds for great prices. March 5-40x56 can also focus to 10y, I believe the Kahles K525i can focus to 22y but has narrow FOV, the new Burris XTR III 5.5-30x56 can focus to 20y and is gaining in popularity, the new Nightforce NX8 can focus to 11y but has pretty noticeable edge distortion taking away from its FOV and limiting its use.

Thanks for the info! I primarily shoot rimfire so those 1/4" targets @ 25 yards through the bottom ladder rung where I'm sometimes hunched over w/o the most perfect eye through scope definitely would cause an error if not 100% parallax free. Would be interesting to see if they could reduce it down to 20m, I'll fire them an e-mail.

NF 7-35 seems like a bit on the high end of focus, would prefer a low end of 5. Though I am guessing I probably never run below 7 in a match.

I believe Mr. Huber could hook you up with adjustment below where we normally set it. Best to just give our customer service number a call at 208-435-4000 and ask.

The 4-32 looks pretty good. Has a really wide FOV too, wider than the ZCO. And only $2100. I am guessing the glass isn't quite that great though at that price range with all those features... Where does the NX8 4-32 glass fit in, Razor HD Gen 2?
I only have experience with the 2.5-20 and glass was impressive in the center 60%, outside of that there is considerable edge distortion. Those who own both the 2.5-20 and 4-32 have said the 4-32 seems to be a bit more forgiving but still exhibits the edge distortion which cuts away from FOV. Also, these designs are finicky with eyebox and parallax, so be prepared to be disappointed if you find yourself in positions where it's difficult to be perfectly aligned and be prepared to have to fiddle quite a bit with parallax; however, to be fair, most long range scopes with close focus capability are also finicky at close ranges. Turrets were a bit mushy on mine but always landed on the mark. In lieu of the issues I would have difficulty recommending the NX8 for short range/rimfire work. For under $2k I think the XTR III 5.5-30x56 with SCR2 is worth looking into and for over $2k check out the Schmidt & Bender 5-25x56 if you can find a reticle you like.

I run a 5-25 PM2 for NRL22, it has the H59 reticle which has always been a great .2 mil holdover reticle and it has a .05mil center dot which is the perfect size. 10M close focus. I've used this scope on PCP air rifles, 22rf's, tactical rifle centerfires, and ELR. It's still a great scope!
