I have an SBR that I'm returning to a title I firearm. What is the best way to fill in or cover up my name, city, state engraving? If I decide to sell it, not sure someone wants my shit plastered on the side of it.

I try to stay away from the ole dremel if at all possible. I can fuck shit up pretty fast with one.:p I was thinking something like bondo, steel tex, or something like that.

Unfortunately, it's not an AR-15 lower, as cheap as those are I wouldn't bother. It's a HK clone, that I never shoot, so I thought I'd just return it to 16" so it would be easier to sell. I'm going to pick up some devcon, or steeltex tomorrow and give filling it in a try.

You can still have him do it. If I were a buyer, I would much prefer a punisher skull or some other tough-guy flavor of the month over some boogered up devcon. How much real estate are we talking about? I know nothing of HK. Is it a big enough space to do something artistic? Anything you can think of he can engrave and multiple passes make it as deep as needed. Check your PM

Its a fairly small area, the actual engraving covers an area of approximately 1.25X.5", of course it is steel not aluminum. I'll think on that though. Definitely gonna keep him in mind for future projects as that is some pretty nice work on the stuff you PM'd me.

I'd list it as NFA first, may get lucky since it's HK that someone will pay premium.

If you need fast cash tig, mill, refinish. You may still find it with an x-ray, but no worries about it chipping out like any fillers.

For what it's worth, I would also check your local laws to make sure it is permissible to remove it at all, e.g., in Michigan the law states:

MCL 750.230 states: “A person who shall willfully alter, remove, or obliterate the name of the maker, model, manufacturer's number, or other mark of identity of a pistol or other firearm, shall be guilty of a felony, punishable by imprisonment for not more than 2 years or fine of not more than $1,000.00. Possession of a firearm upon which the number shall have been altered, removed, or obliterated, other than an antique firearm as defined by section 231a(2)(a) or (b), shall be presumptive evidence that the possessor has altered, removed, or obliterated the same.”

Fuck! Hadn't thought about that either! I'll check that out as well. Thanks.

You can send it here. I've learned to fill this stuff with a Tig welder using Silicon bronze. So long as you don't attempt to blue or park the receiver, it'll be fine. It puts a little heat in it, but it is minimal and I can heat sink the receiver if its anywhere near the "iffy spots".

Not a big deal for us.
