2019 Armageddon Gear Cup - 20-shooter invitational match (UPDATED 2 Oct)

Tom from AG and John from Shooting USA will be doing a live webcast from the GAP Grind at K&M this weekend to answer questions and discuss more details of the AG Cup. Keep an eye on the AG Cup and Armageddon Gear Facebook pages for exact day and time.

I’d suggest if this event is successful enough to hold again in the future, probably a better idea to check with the 1st string shooters they’d like and see if they can agree on a date they can make.

While it’s still looks awesome, there’s always going to be the “what if the PRS series and Finale champs were there?”

Just from local conversations, this took a lot of the wind out of the interest sails from a “this is badass” to “meh.”

All the top shooters were ask to compete. Asking 20 shooters what date would work for them would lead to 20 different dates. If the top competitors really want to shoot they figure out a way to get to a match.

The PRS Finale date was set without any shooters being asked what date would work for them. Some top shooters might not make the finale for whatever reason but the match will still go on.

The AG Cup will too!

PRS finale is always same month. Apples to oranges.

Getting 20 shooters together ain’t that hard when you coordinate vs just surprising people with date.

Match can go on all it wants, but it ain’t got the absolute best there. Gonna have an aterisk next to it.

You don’t make a title fight date and hope the champ shows up.

I’m kinda with David on this, it would’ve been great to see the #1 shooter to participate in the AG Cup, but understand setting a date all could attend is like herding cats. Matt would’ve definitely been a force to be reckoned with but cause of school, he can’t.

This year the finale is in November.

The 4 previous years, it was in December (18), December (17), January('16 season, held January of '17), and September(15).

I misspoke/was wrong.

Doesn’t change poor marketing/execution.

For a couple months everyone hears about the gap grind. Almost nothing about AG cup.

When you want to find out who the best is, you make sure the best is there (within reason).

You let the rest make it work with their schedule or you find replacements. Not the top guys (there’s 5-10 that obviously stand out).

What do you mean you wouldn’t have nrl shooters? A lot of us shoot both nrl and prs?

Noted and understood but their wins in NRL matches would not count to get them into a challenge cup match if it were a PRS run event. Only PRS wins.

And just for the record, I don't speak for either the PRS or NRL, just my opinion.

Any chance we can get a link to a live broadcast? I'd love to put this up on the break room tv at work. My boss is a pro 2A guy, so I think he would be on board, as long as the Nats don't play at the same time.

Would it even be live? I’d imagine a good broadcast would require LOTS of editing and b-roll from shooter stories and possibly phone slope footage. I assumed it would be shown a week or two later like the Hornady shoot was.

That's the plan for the broadcast, as far as I know.
After you find out who won the Super bowl how anxious are you to watch the game ?

Just like golf, boxing, basketball and every major sport it needs to be live. After it’s over so is the interest.

pay-per-view would be the best at getting an audience in my opinion

I didn't know if you all were going to live cast the match on Facebook or YouTube, and then have the show after with professional production. I would love to watch the match as it's happening, even if it's just on a livestream from a cell phone.

I'm just a lackey in this process, I don't get to make any decisions. As far as I know, though, it's just the broadcast on Shooting USA that's planned.

As a fellow lackey, I get it. If there is a suggestion bucket, a live stream of some type would be mine. Otherwise I look forward to watching the show when it airs.

Hopefully they have two cameras, with one behind the shooter showing the current target. Ideally with trace visible. That would really be fun to watch

I recall reading they’d have through the scope cameras as well. To see what the shooter sees. Maybe they can use those Hornady bullet cams to see what the bullet sees.

As big of an event as it's been explained, you would think there would be more coverage. Who has pics, videos and the results?

Hopefully the tv series part will spice things up a bit.

There’s a lot of pics on the AG Cup Facebook and preliminary results are posted.

I agree the during match updating wasn’t a lot. Hopefully the video for tv will be a different story.

There were several people doing live streams from the match, including showing stage runs. Scores were intentionally kept quiet (even the shooters didn't get to see official totals) until the end of the match when awards were announced.

Greg Moore the photography that covers a lot of matches did some live streams. And Geremy Swanny of Swanny’s Comp Gear did a ton!

@pga43 was, Jeremy Swanny (Swanny's Comp Gear) was, my buddy Guy Demarco (he was running PhoneSkope on my stages) did, and I think a couple of sponsors did. Most of them were streaming on FB, I think, not IG.

OUT! Out of my brain!

You don't want to be in there, anyway. It's pitch black, and you're likely to be eaten by a Grue.

Just an FYI, there will be updates coming soon on next year's AG Cup - how to qualify, updates to the match format, etc. Shannon and Tom gave everyone a rundown of the plans for next year at dinner Tuesday night, but not everything is finalized yet. I think they will be making an announcement at or just after the finale with all the details.

Shannon & George told me about the plans. This will be epic! Can't wait until the formal announcement is made.

So is sideburns the only guy that has the video? Is it not possible to see video of the event?

Says on the shooting USA calendar Jan 29 it’ll air?
Wow, four full months after the event?

WOW! That's what four months later? Imagine if they filmed the Super Bowl and waited four months to show it. Everyone would know the outcome, and not care at that point.

Full disclosure, I'm interested in watching the video four months later. LOL
